| About College: |
The Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages – CIEFL is a National Institute for providing higher education in English and other Foreign Languages in India. The EMRC functions under the control of CIEFL. In fact, Educational Media Research Centre, CIEFL, Hyderabad came into being in 1985. The institute serves the purpose to tap the potential of television as an educational tool and to make quality higher education accessible to students of small and remote places utilizing the rapidly expanding television network in the country.
The CIEFL is the only university in India of its kind exclusively devoted to learning and teaching of English and other Foreign languages in demand. CIEFL offers language programmes in English, Arabic, French, German, Japanese, Russian and Spanish.
Presently, the CIEFL has three campuses – Hyderabad, Lucknow and Shillong. The Hyderabad campus of CIEFL has five different schools, namely- School of Critical Humanities, School of Distance Education, School of English Language Education, School of Foreign Langauges and School of Language Sciences. The Lucknow campus runs MA English and M.Phil. in Linguistics and Phonetics. The Shillong campus also offers programs in English, French and German.
The Ramesh Mohan Library of the institute is a reservoir of information for scholars and academicians. The library has more than 118 000 volumes of books and periodicals in English and Other Foreign Languages. In fact, this is nerve center of the institute. |

MA in English OR MA with at least a second class in an allied discipline (Linguistics, Education, Mass Communication or Psychology) along with 5 years of experience in teaching English OR MA (in any discipline) with at least a second class along with 5 years of experience in teaching Methods of Teaching English at the MEd/BEd level.
Admission Procedure
Selection is done through an entrance test, which will examine your English language proficiency and aptitude for teaching English.

MA in English with at least a high second class (55%)
OR MA in the Humanities and the Social Sciences, with interest in and commitment to the research done at EFL University; but if the MA degree is not in English, a separate proficiency test of English will be administered; the medium of instruction in the MA should have been English.
Admission Procedure
Admission for all Ph. D programmes will be through a qualifying entrance test and an interview.
Only those who pass the entrance test will be called for the interview.
