About College:

National Institute of Rural Development is an autonomous organisation of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. The institute's services are available to different ministries/ departments of the Central and State Governments, banking institutions, public and private sector organisations, civil society organisations and other national and international agencies connected with rural development. NIRD aim is to examine and analyse the factors contributing to the improvement of economic and social well-being of people in rural areas on a sustainable basis with focus on the rural poor and the other disadvantaged groups through research, action research and consultancy efforts and facilitate the rural development efforts with particular emphasis and focus on the rural poor by improving the knowledge,skills and attitudes of rural development officials and non-officials through organising training, workshops and seminars.


College Facilities


It is a world class center for rural development training and research. NIRD has every facility in-house for trainees and participants from India and abroad. Besides, well equipped classrooms, guest houses, a medical center, yoga and indoor and outdoor games(Tennis, Shuttle badminton, Volley Ball) take care of health and recreational needs of participants on the campus. Also there is a gymnasium facility for various types of exercises.

The minimum qualification for admission to the programme is Graduation in any discipline from any recognised University. Those who are in the final year and expect to complete all the requirements of graduation by January 1, 2014, can also apply.

In-service Candidates 

1.      Some seats are earmarked for the in-service candidates who fulfil the following conditions for admission:

2.      Graduation in any discipline from a recognised University.

3.      Should have worked in the Rural Development and allied sector with the sponsoring agency for at least two years continuously as a ‘permanent / regular employee’./em>’.

4.      Should attach a certificate along with the application form from their employer stating that they will be sponsored, if selected.

5.      The sponsoring agency should be willing to grant uninterrupted leave to the candidate (if selected) for the period of study.

In-service Indian candidates are required to appear for the Entrance Test along with the general students. However, a separate merit list will be prepared for them for admissions.

Reservation: Reservations for the SC, ST, OBC and Persons with Disability (PWD) will be made as per Government of India’s policies.

Selection 
All eligible Indian candidates along with Indian In-service candidate should appear for the Entrance Test (off-line paper-pencil test) that will comprise: English Comprehension and Essay writing, Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability, Reasoning and Analytical Skills. The Entrance Test will be of about two and half hours duration. The number of questions may range between 90 and 120. The test will be conducted on 09th November 2014 at Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Bhopal, Dimapur, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, New Delhi, Patna, Pune and Thiruvanantapuram. The Test Centres are subject to change depending on the availability of a minimum number of candidates. Candidates selected on the basis of the Entrance Test will be invited for Group Discussion and Personal Interview in some major cities or at NIRD, Hyderabad. No TA / DA will be paid for any candidate attending the test or group discussion and personal interview. The Indian in-service candidates are required to apply through their employers. They may however, send an advance application.

Selection – (Foreign candidates)

The international candidates should apply through the secretariats of the respective international organisations viz., AARDO, CIRDAP etc. Organisational sponsorship for all the in-service candidates is essential. They may however, send an advance application. The eligibility parameters for international students are placed on the website of NIRD.

Prospectus-cum-application form can be downloaded from our website (www.nird.org.in/pgdrdm). The filled in application form should be submitted along with the application fee of Rs.500 (Rs.3007- for SC/ST and PWD candidates) through an Account Payee Demand Draft drawn in favour of NIRD - PGDRDM, payable at Hyderabad. The filled in application form should be sent to the Coordinator Admissions, Centre for Post Graduate Studies (CPGS), National Institute of Rural Development, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad-500030 (A.P), India, so as to reach on or before 25.10.2014. The students of North Eastern States, Jammu & Kashmir, Andaman & Nicobar Island and Lakshadweep. Applications received after the cut off date shall be rejected. NIRD reserves the right to make changes to the Diploma Programme, its design/content and the process of selection, depending upon the exigencies without assigning any reasons whatsoever.
