About College:

University of Agricultural Sciences Bangalore, a premier institution of agricultural education and research in the country, began as a small agricultural research farm in 1899 on 30 acres of land donated by Her Excellency Maharani Kempa Nanjammanni Vani Vilasa Sannidhiyavaru, the Regent of Mysore and appointed Dr. Lehmann, German Scientist to initiate research on soil crop response with a Laboratory in the Directorate of Agriculture. Later under the initiative of the Dewan of Mysore Sir M. Vishweshwaraiah, the Mysore Agriculture Residential School was established in 1913 at Hebbal which offered Licentiate in Agriculture and later offered a diploma programme in agriculture during 1920. The School was upgraded to Agriculture College


in 1946 which offered four year degree programs in Agriculture. The Government of Mysore headed by Sri. S. Nijalingappa, the then Chief Minister, established the University of Agricultural Sciences on the pattern of Land Grant College system of USA and the University of Agricultural Sciences Act No. 22 was passed in Legislative Assembly in 1963. Dr. Zakir Hussain, the Vice President of India inaugurated the University on 21st August 1964.


Dr. Zakir Hussain in his inaugural address set forth the lofty objectives of the university in the following words: 
“By bringing about significant improvement in every phase of rural life, by much needed change in methods of production, by influencing the whole outlook of the rural community and rural home, by giving them a new vision and new hope, this university will be able to make great contribution to national welfare”.

Criteria for Selection of Candidates: On receiving and scrutinizing the applications, the list of selected candidates will be prepared based on academic qualifications; the Admission Committee will be the final authority to decide the number of candidates to be admitted


Verification of all the original certificates will be done on the fixed date (see the calendar of events) during the beginning of the first semester and have to pay the prescribed fee


Students will be permitted to appear for the semester-end exam only after this verification; until then, their admission will be provisional.

Candidates are required to read the prospectus carefully before filling the Application Form for admission to the PGDA; the prospectus provides general information and is subject to the provisions of the relevant academic regulations Candidates may download application forms from UASB website www.uasbangalore.edu.in and/ or application may be obtained in person from the Distance Education Unit, Directorate of Extension, UAS, Hebbal Bangalore-560024, by paying a fee of Rs.500/- through Cash /Demand Draft drawn in favor of Comptroller, UASB, payable at Bangalore.

1.      Candidates desirous of seeking admission to the Under-graduate degree pro­grammes should have compulsorily taken the COMMON ENTRANCE TEST con­ducted during 2014 by the CET Cell, Karnataka. The University does not conduct separate Common Entrance Test for admissions. Candidates who have not taken Common Entrance Test - 2014 of CET Cell, Karnataka are not eligible for admission as already notified in the Notification No. R/UAS(B), (D) & KVAFSU (Bidar)/ UGAdmn/ 2014-15

2.      In addition to 2nd year PUC Marks, the CET marks obtained from CET Cell, Karnataka in the subjects of PCMB shall be considered for admission. However, for admission to seats reserved for Agriculturists/ Children of Agriculturists, a Practical Test will be conducted by the University.

3.      Reservation of Seats: Excluding the All India quota under ICAR, New Delhi, and reser­vation of seats for various categories will be made in accordance with the existing reservation policy of Government of Karnataka. Provision is also made for admission to the Kashmiri Migrants. There is also provision to admit Foreign Nationals/ NRIs/ Children of NRIs on payment of Institutional Economic Fee. However, taking Common Entrance Test conducted by CET, Cell, Karnataka is not required for Kashmiri migrants/ Foreign Nationals/ Children of NRIs / ICAR candidates.
