Admission Procedure

Satisfying the requirements of minimum qualifications as laid down in Performance in Interview for those who have qualified in GATE / SLET / UGC / CSIR (JRF) examinations. Performance in the PhD Entrance Test to be conducted by JIIT, Noida for all those who are not qualified in any of the examinations mentioned in and the subsequent Interview. Candidates are required to discuss their research interests and proposed research work at the time of Interview. JIIT would decide the number of Scholars to be admitted before the selections every time. Due attention will be given to the National Reservation Policy. Faculty members can be permitted to register directly. The students admitted to the PhD Program will be required to register themselves for the specific Program. The registration will be renewed every semester on satisfactory progress.

Selection Process

Applicants seeking admission are required to have qualified in CAT/MAT/CMAT/GMAT for the current session. Scores must be valid upto March 2013 or later.

Shortlisted applicants (on the basis of relative merit from received applications) will be called for: Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI).

Submission of application does not qualify the candidate for GD/PI and no refund of application fee is permissible on any account. The final selection will be based on the test score, language proficiency and performance in the GD & PI.

E       Criteria of subjects in 10+2 exam: The minimum academic qualification for admission to any one of the programs is as laid down by AIEEE*.  The candidate should have a pass in the 10+2 or its equivalent with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and any one of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, and Computer Science as optional subjects.

Equivalent examination to 10+2

·          The 10+2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi.

·          Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/University.  

·          Final Examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.  

·          Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system.  

·          H.S.C. Vocational Examination.  

·          A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.

·          3 or 4-year diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.  

E       Criteria of year of Qualifying Examination

·          Only those candidates are eligible to apply who have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination in the year 2008 or 2009; or

·          Those candidates appearing in the final examination of 10+2 or equivalent in 2010 are also eligible for consideration of provisional admission. All candidates who are offered provisional admission will be required to produce proof of having passed the qualifying examination (10+2 or equivalent) to the University authority latest by September 30, 2010 failing which, such provisional admission will stand cancelled. If the results in qualifying examinations are likely to be declared after September 30, 2010 the candidates are advised to seek admission next year as no representations for extension of dates for any reason whatsoever, shall be entertained.

E       Criteria for Date of Birth

·          Candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 01, 1989 (Date of Birth as recorded in the High School/Secondary Education Board/University Certificate only will be taken as authentic) are eligible to apply for admission.

E       General Instructions on conditions of Eligibility

·          Candidates must produce certificate of proof of the above conditions at the time of counseling failing which they will be disqualified.

·          If an applicant is found ineligible even at a later date after admission to the University, his/her admission will stand cancelled. All admissions will be subject to verification of facts from the original certificates/ documents of the candidates. The decision of the Admissions Committee of the University regarding the eligibility of any applicant shall be final.

Application Process (Applications for admission for Merit based on overall AIEEE Ranking)

The admissions to the above programs shall be made on the basis of overall merit in all India AIEEE -2010 examination. Candidates must therefore appear in the AIEEE-2010 conducted by the CBSE. Further, the candidates must also fill in the separate OMR based application form as provided. Candidate can opt for admission to any or all of the Institutes.

Candidate can apply through any one of the three ways as follows:

Log on to www.jiit.ac.in and click on – AIEEE Based Admissions 2010. Thereafter, candidate will be prompted to fill up the application and fill the details of the Demand Draft. Once the payment has been successfully made the candidate shall be allotted Application ID number, which must be saved for future reference.

E       Obtain the Form from any of the Institutes/bank branches of IDBI bank listed in the advertisement and/or as per list provided on the web site by paying in cash.
