Entry Qualification:

The minimum qualification for admission to Master of Science (M.Sc.) Programmes will be open to a candidate who obtains at least 55% marks (50% in case of candidates belonging to reserved categories)

On-line: The candidates can apply on-line through website www.sliet.ac.in, www.sliet.net.in and pay the required fee of Rs 1000/- (Rs 500/- for SC/ST) through debit card/credit card/on-line generated pay-in-slip in the HDFC/CBI bank branches

Before applying on-line, the candidates are advised to read carefully the information brochure available on website

Off-line: The information brochure containing application form for entrance test is available from Central Bank of India, SLIET Longowal branch and at following HDFC bank branches in the country at a payment of Rs 1100/- (Rs 600/- for SC/ST) (for detailed addresses of these branches refer institute websites)

Admission under PwD scheme: Under this scheme of the Govt of India 25 seats are available in different two years regular certificates (13 seats) and diploma (12 seats) programmes for persons having more than 40% disability

Candidates who get admission under this scheme are given free education, hostel facilities, scholarships, books, uniform allowances as per limits of this scheme

Interested candidates may apply on the prescribed form (available free of cost from institute only)

Such candidate shall have to appear for All India SLIET entrance test-2013 (SET-I for Certificate and SET-II for Diploma)

The eligibility conditions given below are the absolute minimum. Departments may prescribe any requirements over and above these, subject to the approval of the Central Research Committee, CRC.

Master’s Degree in Engineering/Technology/Science/Humanities/Management with 55% of marks (50% for SC/ST)

Admission Procedure: - The applicants must apply for admission on prescribed forms, which must be sent directly to the Convener, DRC of the department concerned.

(a) All admissions will be made on approval by the Chairman, Senate on the recommendations of the duly constituted selection committees and the Chairperson, CRC. A selection committee will consist of faculty members, one of whom will be from another department. The constitution of the selection committee will be proposed by the DRC and approved by the Chairperson, CRC.

(b) Separate selection committees may be appointed to select candidates belonging to different categories, viz., sponsored, regular, QIP, etc.

(c) Admission to the Ph.D. programmes will be based on written tests and/or interviews of the candidates short-listed by the DRC of the department concerned.

(d) The admission of Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes candidates will be decided without comparing them with the general category candidates.

(e) The selected candidates, who have completed all the examinations including project/thesis examination and the viva voce before the date of registration but are unable to produce the certificate in proof of having passed and secured the minimum specified qualifying marks, may be considered for provisional admission. However, if admitted provisionally, they will be required to produce the evidence of their having passed the qualifying degree examination with minimum

specified marks by the last date for document submission as specified in the academic calendar (usually about 8 weeks from the date of registration), failing which the admission may be cancelled.

(f) The provisions in para 1.4h shall not be applicable in the case of M.Sc./M.Tech. students of the institute, who have been provisionally selected for admission to a Ph.D. programme. These students will be admitted to the Ph.D. programme subject to the condition that they must successfully complete all the prescribed requirements including acceptance of their thesis in a particular semester by the late registration date as specified in the academic calendar.

(g) On approval by the Chairman, Senate, the departments will issue the admission letters to the candidates who will be required to accept the offer of admission by depositing the prescribed fee before the specified date.

(h) In case a candidate does not accept the offer by paying the prescribed fee by the specified date, the offer of admission may stand withdrawn, and the admission offered to the candidates in the waiting list, if any, in order of merit.

(i) The offer of admission may also stand withdrawn if the candidate who has accepted the offer fails to register by the date for late registration.

(ji) In case a student wishes to temporarily withdraw from his/her Ph.D. programme he/she may do so only after a period of two years following his/her date of registration with prior permission of the Senate.

Diploma Programmes:

(i) Punjab State 50%

(ii) Other States & U.T.s 50%

Statutory Reservations (in all above programmes): 15% for Schedule Castes, 7.5% for Schedule Tribes, 3% for Physically Handicapped and 27% for Other Backward Classes (non-creamy layer).

NRI/NRI Sponsored*: 5% seats of sanctioned strength in Diploma, degree, PG programmes (for sons and daughters of NRIs) subject to approval of AICTE, New Delhi.

Latest Instructions of Government of India shall apply for statutory /NRI reservations at the time of admission.

Application Form and Examination Fee: The Brochure containing information about the Institute, syllabi for Entrance Test for different programmes and application form for Entrance Test is available from March 07, 2011 at SLIET, Longowal (Distt. Sangrur)-148106, Punjab, on payment of Rs. 350/- at the Institute's Counter or through Post by sending a Bank Draft of Rs.375/- in favour of Director, SLIET, payable at Longowal / Sangrur. The complete application form along with examination fee (in the form of DD or Cash receipt) of Rs.600/- (Rs.300/- for SC/ST) should be sent to the Chairman, SET-2011. Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering & Technology, Longowal-148106, Distt. Sangrur (Punjab) on or before April, 30, 2011.

Information Brochure shall also be available at the following Axis Bank Branches (city’s main branch) throughout the country by Cash payment of Rs.375/- only, from March 07, 2011:
