Candidates should apply to SMIT on the prescribed form quoting their MAT/CAT score. Candidates will be selected based on their performance in Group Discussions and Interviews to be conducted at SMIT, Rangpo on the dates given on the page of IMPORTANT DATES. An entrance test for those not having a MAT/CAT score.

1. Degree in Electrical/Electronics & Communication/Telecommunication/Instrumentation Engineering, as applicable, with a minimum of 60% marks.
2. Preference will be given to GATE qualified candidates. Any unsubscribed seats after admission of GATE qualified candidates will be filled up on the basis of an entrance test to be conducted by the Institute on its campus.
3. A sponsored candidate from government or private organization with not less than one year industrial or field experience/ teaching or research experience in the relevant area after passing the qualifying examination can be considered. Preference will be given to the candidates in the academic profession or with R&D organization.
Several teaching assistantships are awarded to deserving candidates enrolled in the M Tech Courses.
Three seats are reserved for Sikkim Government nominee recommended by Director - Technical Education, HRD, Govt. of Sikkim. |

Admission Procedure
Admission will be on the basis of merit in the Entrance Examination conducted by SMU. Counseling and Admission will be at SMU, Gangtok. Personal presence of candidate during counseling is essential. No postponement of date of counseling under any circumstances is permitted. The following documents in original & one set of attested photocopies are required at the time of counseling/admission:
