NEIGRIHMS is an Autonomous Institute established by Government of India in 1987 under the Meghalaya Registration of Societies Act 1983. The then Prime Minister Late Rajiv Gandhi dedicated the Institute to the memory of Late Indira Gandhi, former Prime Minister for her commitment to the welfare and affection for the people of North Eastern Region. It has now been designed as a Postgraduate Medical Institute in the lineage of AIIMS, New Delhi and PGIMER, Chandigarh. NEIGRIHMS has been the First and the only Postgraduate Medical Institute in the North Eastern Region and third in the country established by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

Candidates seeking admission to the B.Sc. Nursing degree course (basic) should fulfill the following criteria:-

1.            Should have passed the Senior School Certificate Examination/ Higher Secondary Examination/Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Examination after a period of twelve (12) years of study.

2.            Should secure a minimum of 45% marks in each of the four (4) subjects i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually in the 10+2 examination.

3.            Should have completed the minimum age of 17 years on or before the 31st December 2013 and not exceeded the maximum age of 25 years as of 31st December 2013.

4.            Candidates found guilty of misconduct or convicted for any offence shall not be eligible for admission.

5.            Candidates should be a citizen of India.

 

Basis of Selection:- The selection of the candidates for admission to the B.Sc. Nursing Course will be based on the merit list prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the Entrance Test. All candidates have to appear for the Entrance Test as scheduled.

Prospectus cum application form can also be obtained by sending a written request to the In-charge Examination Cell, NEIGRIHMS, Director’s Block, Mawdiangdiang, Shillong - 793018 enclosed with a demand draft/ Banker Cheque of Rs.550/-. Candidates should enclose unstamped self address envelope of size 25cm X 15cm. The Demand Draft/ Banker Cheque should be made in favour of “Director, NEIGRIHMS”, payable at Shillong and should be valid for approximately six months from the date which NEIGRIHMS received. The words “REQUEST FOR APPLICATION FORM FOR B.SC (NURSING) ENTRANCE EXAMINATION 2013” should be written on the envelope containing request for application. The address at which Application Form is required should be written clearly in capital letters. NEIGRIHMS will not be held responsible for illegible or incomplete address given in the request for application or postal delay or non – receipt of application form.

5.      However, a candidate who, after passing the final qualifying examination (MBBS or the foreign medical degree recognized by National Board of Examination), is undergoing 12-month compulsory rotating internship/practical training and is likely to complete the same by 30/04/2010 can take up this examination, but he/she shall not be eligible for admission unless he/she has completed the compulsory rotating internship and obtained full registration on or before 30/04/2010 and the candidate produces a certificate from the Head of the institution that he/she will be completing internship by 30/04/2010.

 

6.      The candidates who have already done/are pursuing MD/MS in any subject at the time of counseling shall not be considered for admission to MD/MS courses at NEIGRIHMS. 5.      However, a candidate who, after passing the final qualifying examination (MBBS or the foreign medical degree recognized by National Board of Examination), is undergoing 12-month compulsory rotating internship/practical training and is likely to complete the same by 30/04/2010 can take up this examination, but he/she shall not be eligible for admission unless he/she has completed the compulsory rotating internship and obtained full registration on or before 30/04/2010 and the candidate produces a certificate from the Head of the institution that he/she will be completing internship by 30/04/2010.

 

6.      The candidates who have already done/are pursuing MD/MS in any subject at the time of counseling shall not be considered for admission to MD/MS courses at NEIGRIHMS. If it is found at a later stage that the candidate has given false undertaking at the time of counseling, his/her candidature/ registration will be cancelled.

How To Apply:

The Prospectus-cum-application form can be obtained in the following manner:

 

By Person: The prospectus – cum – application form can be obtained personally from NEIGRIHMS Counter from 14/12/2009 to 14/01/2010 (10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m), against a demand draft/banker’s cheque of Rs. 1000/- either by hand in favour of Director, NEIGRIHMS, payable at Shillong from Monday to Friday (EXCEPT CENTRAL GOVERNMENT HOLIDAYS).

 

From Website: Prospectus cum application format can be downloaded from the website. The downloaded application forms will be allotted an application form number by NEIGRIHMS once the application form is received and processed. All downloaded forms must be submitted along with the demand draft/banker’s cheque in original.

 

IMPORTANT: Only application forms obtained from the Dean’s Office, NEIGRIHMS or downloaded from the Institute website are valid.

 

Forms obtained from an unauthorized source will be rejected. FORMS FROM PROSPECTUS SHOULD NOT BE PHOTOCOPIED.

 

Candidates are advised to procure application forms as early as possible instead of waiting for the last date.
