Combined Defence Services Examination (I) 2011

 

  [Including SSC Women (Non-Technical) Course]

 

 

The Union Public Service Commission will hold the Combined Defence Services Examination (I), 2011 on 13th February, 2011 for admission to Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Air Force Academy for the Courses commencing in January, 2012 and Officers Training Academy, Chennai for the Courses (Men and Women) commencing in April, 2012.

 

Salient features of the examination are published herein for general information of candidates. For details regarding the Eligibility Conditions, Syllabus and Scheme of the examination, Centers of examination, Guidelines for filling up application form etc. aspirants must consult the Detailed Notice of the examination published in the Employment News / Rozgar Samachar dated 25th September, 2010.

Eligibility:

CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY FOR ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

 

(A)       Age Limits, Sex and Marital Status:

ü       For Indian Military Academy: Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January, 1988 and not later than 1st January, 1993 only are eligible.

ü       For Indian Naval Academy: Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January, 1990 (2nd January, 1988 in case of NCC Naval Wing 'C Certificate holders) and not later than 1st January 1993 only are eligible.

ü       For Air Force Academy: Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January, 1989 and not later than 1st January, 1993 only are eligible.

ü       For Officers' Training Academy - (SSC Course for Men): Male candidates (married or unmarried) born not earlier than 2nd January, 1987 and not later than 1st January, 1993 only are eligible.

ü       For Officers' Training Academy - SSC (Women, Non-Technical Course): Unmarried women, issueless widows who have not remarried and issueless divorcees (in possession of divorce documents) who have not remarried are eligible. They should have been born not earlier than 2nd January, 1987 and not later than 1st January, 1993.

(B)       Educational Qualifications for entrance examination:

ü       For Indian Military Academy and Officers' Training Academy: - Degree of a recognised University or equivalent.

ü       For Indian Naval Academy: - Degree in Engineering.

ü       For Air Force Academy: - Degree of a recognised University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.

 

Candidates who are studying in final year Degree Course and have yet to pass final year degree examination or equivalent examination can also apply for the Examination, but they will be required to submit proof of passing the Degree Examination or equivalent examination by the specified dates published in Commission's Notice for the Examination.

(C)       Physical Standards:

Candidates must be physically fit according to the physical standards for admission to Combined Defence Services Examination (I), 2011 as given in Appendix-V of Commission's Notice for the Examination published in Employment news/Rozgar Samachar dated 25th September, 2010.

How To Apply:

1.      Candidates may apply Online by using the http://www.upsconline.nic.in Detailed instructions for filling up online applications are available on the above-mentioned website.

2.      Candidates may also apply Off-line, in the Common Application Form devised by the Commission for its examinations which can be purchased from the designated Head Post Offices/Post Offices (specified in Appendix-Ill of the Notice) throughout the country against cash payment of Rs 20/-(Rupees twenty only). Each such Form can be used only once and only for one examination.

 

In case of any difficulty in obtaining Application Forms from the designated HPOs/POs, the candidates should immediately contact the concerned Post Master or UPSC's "FORMS SUPPLY MONITORING CELL" over Telephone No 011- 23389366/Fax No 011- 23387310.

 

FEE:


a)     Candidates applying Online are required to pay a reduced fee of Rs 50/- (Rupees Fifty only) either by remitting the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card.

b)     Candidates applying Offline (through Common Application Form) are required to pay a fee of Rs. 100/- (Rupees One hundred only) through Central Recruitment Fee Stamp only.

c)      All female candidates and SC/ST candidates are exempted from payment of Fee. (OBC candidates are required to pay full fee).

The Online Applications can be filled upto 25th October, 2010 till 11.59 PM after which the link will be disabled.

 

b)     Offline

 

All offline applications must reach the "Controller of Examinations", Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi - 110069" either by hand or by Post/ Speed Post or by Courier, on or before the 25th October, 2010. However, in respect of candidates residing abroad or in certain remote localities specified in the Notice the last date for receipt of applications by Post/Speed Post only (not by Hand or by Courier) is 1st November, 2010.

FACILITATION COUNTER AND WEBSITE FOR GUIDANCE OF CANDIDATES FOR ENTRANCE EXAMINATION:

 

In case of any guidance/information/clarification regarding their applications, candidature etc. candidates can contact UPSC's Facilitation Counter near gate 'C of its campus in person or over Telephone No.011-23385271/ 011-23381125/011-23098543 on working days between 10.00 hrs. and 17.00 hrs.

 

The Commission also has a Website at address: http://www.upsc.gov.in over which the candidates can obtain details of the examination as well as information about registration of their applications, venue of the examination and results etc.
