CLAT 2017 – Chanakya National Law University, Patna will conduct Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2017 on May 14 as applications for CLAT 2017 will begin from January 1. The CLAT 2017 will be held online in approximately 66 exam centres across India. CLAT 2017 scores will be accepted by as many as 18 NLUs and other law colleges after result of CLAT 2017 will be announced on May 25. Read below detailed information about CLAT 2017 including important dates, eligibility criteria, application form, admit card, syllabus, exam pattern, result, score card, cut off and counselling process.
CLAT is one of the most popular law entrance examinations for seeking admissions to five-year integrated law programmes (BA LLB, B.Com LLB, B.Sc LLB and BBA LLB) into National Law Universities (NLUs) recognized as participating institutes of Common Law Admission Test. In addition to the undergraduate law programmes, CLAT is also conducted for admission into postgraduate law programmes including LLM.

UNDER-GRADUATE PROGRAMME (Five Year Integrated LL.B. (Hons. Course
Educational Qualification: Passed 12+2 or equivalent examination with a minimum of (i) Forty Five percent (45%) marks in case of candidates belonging to Unreserved/OBC/Specially Abled Persons (SAP)/NRI/NRI sponsored categories and (ii) Forty percent (45%) marks in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories. Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in March/April 2017 are also eligible to apply.
Age limit: Candidates should be below Twenty (20) years of age in case of Unreserved/NRI/NRI sponsored categories and below Twenty Two (22) years in case of SC/ST/SAP categories as on 01st July, 2017.
POST-GRADUATE PROGRAMME (One Year LL.M. Course)
Educational Qualification: LL.B. or equivalent degree examination with a minimum of Fifty Five percent (55%) marks in case of Unreserved/OBC/SAP categories and Fifty percent (50%) in case of SC/ST categories and below Twenty Two (22) years in case of SC/ST/OBC/SAP categories as on 01st July, 2017.
CLAT Admission Process 2017
Aspirants seeking admission into undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes need to appear for CLAT 2017. The admission process of CLAT begins with the examination notification and availability of application forms. The CLAT 2017 applicants then will have to appear for the common law admission test. Based on their performance in the law examination, candidates will be awarded All India Ranks (AIRs) and CLAT 2017 scores which will be accepted by various law schools including NLUs. The CLAT committee will be organising CLAT 2017 counselling upon which they will be allotted seats in different NLUs under centralised counselling system.

CLAT Application Form 2017
CNLU Patna will begin application form of CLAT 2017 from January 1 aspirants can fill CLAT 2017 online application form only after registering themselves for the common law admission test. CLAT 2017 registrations can be done by providing a valid e-mail id and mobile number. The online applications of CLAT 2017 can be filled after logging into the application form window through CLAT 2017 registered account and password. Candidates will also need to pay an application fee of Rs. 4000 before submitting the form. CLAT 2017 application form needs to be filled before the last date, i.e., March 31, 2017; otherwise no applications will be entertained thereafter.
CLAT Admit Card 2017
The NLU Patna will be issuing admit card of CLAT 2017 in April. Applicants can download their CLAT 2017 admit cards by entering login id and password through official link. CLAT 2017 admit card will be hall ticket to appear in the law admission test. No candidate will be allowed to take the law examination without the CLAT admit card (hall ticket). The admit card of CLAT 2017 will mention candidature as well as examination details including name and roll number of the candidate, timing and venue of the examination.
CLAT Syllabus 2017
Candidates need to check syllabus of CLAT 2017 as it’ll help them in preparing for the law entrance exam. CLAT 2017 syllabus mentions important sections and their topics. With CLAT syllabus, candidates will be able to know which topics should be focussed more and the unimportant topics that should be left out. The exam syllabus of CLAT mentions topics from different sections – English & Comprehension, General Knowledge & Current Affairs, Elementary Mathematics, Legal Aptitude and Logical Reasoning.
CLAT Exam Pattern 2017
CNLU Patna will be announcing exam pattern of CLAT 2017 in January. The common law admission test will be held on May 14, 2017. CLAT 2017 exam pattern needs to be gone through as the NLU administered admission test is one of the competitive examinations and with a better understanding of the question pattern, one could tackle the paper. As per CLAT 2017 exam pattern (paper pattern), the exam will be held online. The candidates can attempt a total of 200 questions carrying one mark each in two hours test duration. CLAT committee follows negative marking policy, under which 0.25 marks each will be deducted from the total scored marks for wrong answers.
CLAT Exam Centres 2017
The exam centres of CLAT 2017 list out the cities across India where the online examination will be conducted. CLAT 2017 exam centres will be announced by CNLU Patna in January, as the exam will be held in over 175 testing locations across the country. Applicants will be communicated about their admission testing venue through their CLAT 2017 admit cards. No request will be entertained for change of CLAT 2017 examination centre, once it has been allotted to the candidates.

CLAT Answer Key 2017
CNLU Patna will be releasing answer keys of CLAT 2017 in May. Candidates will also receive their response sheets along with CLAT 2017 answer key and question papers. CLAT official answer keys will help law aspirants in knowing correct answer to the questions and know probable scores of the admission test. Candidates can also report to CLAT committee in case of any discrepancy in the official answer key of CLAT 2017, for which the candidates will be allowed to submit their grievances regarding the CLAT questions and their answers within a stipulated time. In case of any changes, the CLAT committee will be issuing final answer key of CLAT 2017.
CLAT Result 2017
CNLU Patna will be announcing result of CLAT 2017 on May 25, after it has released the final answer key. Candidates can access CLAT 2017 results and check their scores in the law admission test through their registered CLAT accounts. The CLAT result will mention candidates’ All India Rank (AIR), State Rank (SR) and Category Rank (CR) besides the scores.
CLAT Merit List (Rank List) 2017
CNLU Patna will be releasing merit list of CLAT 2017 along with the results. The merit list can also be considered as CLAT 2017 rank list as it will mention All India Ranks (AIRs) of all the candidates appearing the common law admission test. CLAT 2017 merit list (rank list) will specify total number of test takers, their scores, subject-wise marks and State Ranks besides AIRs. It has been made practice from the year 2015 to issue CLAT merit list in public so as to maintain transparency in the examination system.
CLAT Cut off 2017
The examination committee will be announcing cut off of CLAT 2017 after issuing merit lists. CLAT 2017 cut off is regarded as maximum rank secured by a candidate to be offered admission in the NLUs. The CLAT cut off will be determined by the exam committee in accordance with the result and merit list of the admission test. CLAT 2017 cut off will also depend on various factors including total number of test takers, minimum marks, maximum marks and admitting seats. Candidates will be allowed to participate in the admission counselling, only of they meet CLAT cut off 2017.
CLAT Seat Allotment 2017
Candidates will be allotted seats in the participating NLUs as per CLAT 2017 seat allotment process, which form an important part of CLAT admission counselling. If a candidate accepts the allotted seat, he/ she needs to deposit the requisite amount of fee within a given due date. The seat will be automatically forfeited, in case of non-deposition of fees. The exam committee will be issuing next seat allotment list, only after the admission has been conducted based on previous list. There will be as many as three such CLAT 2017 seat allotment lists published.
CLAT Participating Institutes 2017
As many as 18 National Law Universities will be participating in CLAT 2017. The list of CLAT 2017 participating institutes also mention various law schools besides the NLUs which accept scores of the common law admission test. As per the CLAT participating institutes’ list, the 18th and the latest addition is Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU) Nagpur. Candidates appearing the law admission test vie for the NLUs including NLSIU Bangalore, NALSAR Hyderabad, WBNUJS Kolkata and NLIU Bhopal which are the most preferred NLUs by the law aspirants and are the founding member of the CLAT committee.
CLAT Seats and Reservation 2017
The Common Law Admission Test is conducted for offering admissions to as many as 2352 seats in the undergraduate law programmes and 604 postgraduate programme seats. The admission committee follows government policy for reservation of CLAT seats. While some of the NLUs have seats reserved for candidates possessing state domicile, each of them have the other seats reserved for the distinctive categories–Other Backward Class (OBC), Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST).
