Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB) will hold a competitive ARS Examination-2012

Preliminary examination-2012 on 24th February, 2013, Sunday, 02.00 p.m. to 04.00 p.m.

Main examination-2012 on 23rd June, 2013, Sunday, 10.00 a.m. to 01.00 p.m.

Candidates declared successful in ARS Main Examination and viva-voce will be recommended for appointment as Scientists in Agricultural Research Service (ARS) of Indian Council of Agricultural Research in the pay band of Rs 15,600-39,100/- plus research grade pay of Rs 6,000/-

The Preliminary ARS Examination is a qualifying examination and its marks will not be carried forward for determining final merit of the candidates

All those candidates desirous of appearing for ARS will have to take both the examinations and viva-voce

Since a pass in the Preliminary examination is compulsory for all candidates, only those candidates who qualify the Preliminary ARS Examination will be eligible to appear in the ARS Main Examination

Eligibility:

Nationality: A candidate must be either (i) a citizen of India, or (ii) a citizen of Nepal, or (iii) a citizen of Bhutan, or (iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 01st January, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or (v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar) Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Govt of India

Age Limit: A candidate seeking admission to the ARS Examination must have attained the age of 21 years but not have attained the age of 32 years as on 01st August, 2012

In service candidates of ICAR less than 45 years in age as on 01st August, 2012 will also be eligible to appear subject to possession of prescribed qualifications

In service candidates of the State Agricultural Universities less than 35 years in age as on 01st August, 2012 will be eligible to appear for ARS subject to possession of prescribed qualifications

The upper age limit prescribed above will also be relaxable; upto five years SC/ST candidates; upto 3 years OBC candidates; 10 years for PC candidates; Upto a maximum of 5 years if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from the 1st January, 1980 to the 31st day of December, 1989; to other bonafide displaced persons/repatriates of Indian origin / Defence Services Personnel/Border Security Force Personnel etc as per the existing instructions of the Govt of India on the subject

Educational Qualifications: A candidate for the Agricultural Research Service must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in the concerned subject with specialization completed on or before 31st October, 2012 from any Indian university incorporated by an Act of Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institution estd by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed university u/s 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or he/she must have qualification from a foreign University recognized as equivalent by the Govt of India

The candidates having Master’s degree from a foreign University must attach a certificate of equivalence and recognition of that degree issued by the University Commission/ Govt of India

A candidate who has appeared in an examination the passing of which rendered him or her eligible to appear at this examination but has not been informed of the result may apply for the admission to the examination

Such candidates will be admitted if otherwise eligible, but the admission would be deemed to be provisional subject to cancellation if he or she does not produce Master’s degree or the provisional degree certificate alongwith the application for the ARS Mains Examination on or before the date of ARS Main Examination 23rd June, 2013

The candidate is required to submit the attested copies of the Master’s degree/provisional degree certificate and marksheets/ trans alongwith the application for the Mains Examination to the Board on or before the date of ARS Main Examination 23rd June, 2013 failing which he or she will not be allowed to attend the interview/viva-voce

Fee: The candidates seeking admission to ARS examination must pay to the board a fee of Rs 480/- (Rs four hundred eighty only) plus registration charge of Rs 20/- (Rs twenty only)

All candidates will pay registration fee of Rs 20/-

Women candidates and the candidates belonging to SC/ST/PC categories are exempted from payment of examination fee only

No fee exemption is, however, available to OBC candidates and they are required to pay the full registration fee

Examination Centres: The centres of examination where the Preliminary and Main Examinations will be conducted

Preliminary Exam Centres: Anand, Bangaluru, Bikaner, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Dharwad, Dehradun, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Izatnagar, Jabalpur, Jammu, Junagadh, Karnal, Kolkata, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Mumbai, Nagpur, Palampur, Patna, Port-Blair, Raipur, Ranchi, Srinagar, Tirupati, Udaipur, Varanasi

Main Exam Centres: Centres of examination for ARS Main Examination will be decided by ASRB after the results of Preliminary-ARS Examination and shall be informed to all the eligible candidates

However, the candidates can give the choices of the centres of examination for ARS-Main Examination from amongst following centres

Bangaluru, Bhubaneswar, Coimbatore, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jammu, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Varanasi

How To Apply:

Application Form: A candidate seeking admission to the examination must apply to the Secretary, Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board, Krishi Anusandhan Bhavan, Pusa, New Delhi-110012 on the application form available on ICAR Website www.icar.org.in or ASRB Website www.asrb.org.in

The application form must be filled up by the candidate in his/her own handwriting only

A candidate must fulfill all the conditions of eligibility regarding age limits, educational qualifications, etc prescribed for admission to the examination

The candidates are not required to attach the copies of the documents/certificates in support of their candidature

The envelopes containing the application form should be super scribed in bold letters as Application for ARS Examination-2012

The completed application form must reach the Secretary, Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board, Krishi Anusandhan Bhavan, Pusa, New Delhi-110012 by post or delivered in person on or before 18th December, 2012

Applications received only by post (by post/ speed post) from the candidates residing in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Jammu & Kashmir, Lahaul & Spiti Districts and Pangi Sub-Division of Chamba Distt of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshdweep or abroad, the last date for receipt of application will be 31st December, 2012
