  • About Directorate of Distance Education:

    Directorate of Distance Education, University of North Bengal is recognized and accredited by the Distance Education Council, New Delhi. The University and the DDE are committed to provide education at the P.G. level under distance mode with a high level of quality assurance. To achieve these objectives, the intake capacity in each subject has been restricted to cope up with the constraints. The delivery systems for teaching-learning have been technology-enabled and considerably improved by incorporating ICT tools and web-based services.


    University of North Bengal, through Directorate of Distance Education, provides quality post graduate courses in seven subjects, namely, M.A. in English, Bengali, Nepali, Philosophy, Political Science and History and M.A./M.Sc. in Mathematics to students of any location and age in the comfort of their home.

    The Directorate of Distance Education is located in the NBU Campus which is situated beside the National Highway 31. The Campus is about 8 km from Siliguri and about 5 km from Bagdogra Airport.

  • Course Name: Master of Arts MA
    Course Description: Master of Arts (MA) in Bengali, English, Nepali, History, Political Science, Philosophy and Mathematics programs for the session 2016-17.
    Opening Date: 08 Nov 2016
    Closing Date: 17 Nov 2016

    Eligibility:

    Candidates should have a B.A. in Honours or General course (10+2+3 pattern) and 2 years degree course (10+2+2 pattern) with 1-year Bridge Course from any recognized university.

    Evaluation:

    The evaluation system of the program is based on two components:

    Continuous evaluation in the form of periodic assignments

    This component carries a weightage of 15%. There will be one assignment per program.

    Assignments are to be submitted for evaluation within stipulated date.

    Term-end examination (TEE) with a weightage of 85%. Term-end examinations for P.G. Part – I & II are held on notification from Controller of Examinations Department, normally held in the months of September – October and March respectively.
