- About Dr BR Ambedkar University: Andhra University is one of the oldest and premier Universities in the country and was established in 1926. Sir C.V.Raman, Prof. Janaanda, Prof. Ludwig Wolf, Prof. Mahadevan, Prof. Srinivasa Iyyengar are some of the world renowned scientist and scholars associated with the University. Second president of India Dr. Sarvepalli Radha Krishna has served as second Vice-Chancellor for the university. The Government of United Andhra Pradesh sanctioned Dr. B. R. Ambedkar PG Center at Etcherla, Srikakulam district in 1977 for which the seeds of higher education were sown to the downtrodden people and most backward district of Srikakulam. In 1978-79 Academic year was started in 49 acre land Dr. B. R. Ambedkar PG Center campus of Andhra University with two courses namely Economics and Rural Development. The restructuring of the Universities based on the recommendations of National Knowledge Commission New University named by converting existing Dr. B. R. Ambedkar PG Center into Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University, Srikakulam in 2008 in 168 acre campus. At present offers 01 Diploma, 03 PG Diploma, 07 UG and 23 PG and Ph.D programmes in all the departments of three constituent colleges. Quality of teaching-learning process is given top priority by analyzing all the parameters. Attention is paid to develop the overall personality of the students as they are the future of India to become super power by 2030. More than 80% of the faculty members are with Ph.D. Degrees acquired from premier institutes in India and abroad. Empowering the students to fulfill their academic moral, ethical values and to honor, professional practices in diverse and inclusive society. Strengthening the faculty in pedagogical practices, research and extensional activities. Creating volunteering spirit in the students and alumni, and other stake holders througsustainable programmes to enrich their relationship with the university. Up lifting the economic and socially backward students by giving quality education and to take up community oriented actions by the optimal utilization of human resources to meet the current challenges. The university provides competitive environment to enable students to grab opportunities emerging in the national and global arena. The university builds partnership with premier educational institutions, community organizations, government agencies and NGOs to serve the backward rural areas.
