Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune, established in 1930 by the Servants of India Society, is the oldest research and training institute in Economics in the country. It is dedicated to research into the socio-economic dimensions of the Indian society, and carries forward the legacy of Gopal Krishna Gokhale who founded the Servants of India Society in 1905 with a view to promote education and develop capabilities among Indians for the governance of the nation after it had attained its political independence. The Institute is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, and the Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950. Over the decades, the Institute has established strong credentials in empirical and analytical research. In recognition of its contribution to higher learning and research in Economics, the Institute was awarded the status of institution Deemed to be University, in 1993.
Candidates seeking admission to M.Sc. program must secure at least 50 % marks in aggregate (45% for SC/ST reserved category candidates) at graduation level. Candidates who have appeared for the final degree examination during 2020-21 and whose results are awaited shall also be eligible to apply. However, in order to be considered for admission to the programme, their results must be conveyed by the candidates, or respective universities to the institute, preferably by fax/speed-post, on or before Friday, July 16, 2021. Students may request their respective universities to dispatch their results to the institute in confidential form in case declaration of results is delayed beyond the last date stipulated by the institute.
The candidate must follow the instructions step by step that is given below:
· The Candidates seeking admission to the M. Sc. Programme shall visit the website: www.gipe.ac.in.
· In the admission section, the candidates will see details on how to apply and the process of admission.
Note:
1. The applicants must to enter in prescribed place of the application form their order of preference for the M.Sc. programmes.
2. No change in the preference will be accepted once candidate submit the application form.
· The Candidates must read the instructions and follow the same. Then, click on the appropriate link provided for the admission purpose on the web page.
· The candidates must fill the application form online as per instructions provided therein and submit it online only, along with the application fee of Rs. 1,500/- (Non-refundable). Payment gateway charges will be extra.
· The candidates must pay the ‘application fee’ only through the ‘payment gateway’ by using a Debit/Credit Card or Net Banking facility.
· After completing all procedures and submission of the form, the candidates will receive a confirmation on form submission. The candidates then may download their forms from the portal itself.
· The candidates can download the ADMIT CARD before ten days of the entrance examination.
Note:
· If the pandemic situation compels us to cancel the exam, the Institute will notify on the gipe website accordingly.
· The time of the examination will be communicated at the time of issuing the ADMIT CARDS.
· Candidates are required to report at the respective exam centres before one hour of the scheduled time of the Entrance Examination.

Candidates willing to seek admission to the B. Sc. (Economics) Programme at GIPE must secure at least 60% marks in aggregate (50% marks for SC/ST category candidates) in their 12th Standard board examination or equivalent examinations. The candidates appearing for the HSC board examination or equivalent board examinations during 2020-21 and their results are awaited shall also be eligible to apply to the entrance examination. However, the candidates must convey to the Institute the results of the qualifying exams as soon as the results are declared, preferably by e-mail, to consider their applications for entrance examination and admission.
