IIT Bombay, the second in the chain of IITs, was set up in 1958. It was the first IIT to be set up with foreign assistance. The funds came from UNESCO in roubles from the
IIT Bombay has a total of 14 academic departments, six centres, one school, and three interdisciplinary programmes. M.Des. Program at IDC School of Design, IIT Bombay
The candidate should have a minimum of 55% marks (50% marks in case of SC/ST/PwD) or equivalent grades in the qualifying degree for individual streams.
The candidate should have also qualified through Common Entrance Examination for Design for 2020 (CEED 2020).
All candidates having a degree from foreign universities should submit equivalence certificate from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi for qualifying degree and proof of having 55% or equivalent in the qualifying degree. Indian SC/ST/PwD candidates should have 50% or equivalent in the qualifying degree. Candidates should produce this certificate at the time of written test and interview, failing to this admission committee will reject the application.
Application form
All candidates who have qualified CEED 2020 and meet the eligibility criteria of each stream can apply for admission to M.Des. for various streams (AN, CD, ID, IN, and MD) in IDC School of Design, IIT Bombay.
Industry sponsored candidates can apply for admission after having qualified through CEED 2020, if they fulfil the required eligibility criteria for respective streams.
Application forms have to be filled online and the fees have to be paid online. Candidates also have to complete tasks A, B and C for each stream applied for and upload these tasks along with other documents. Candidates who wish to apply to more than one stream, will have to fill the form for each stream separately along with the fee.

For admission to B. Des, the candidate should have passed in the qualifying exam. If a qualifying Board awards only letter grades without providing information on the passing
grade on the grade sheet, the candidate should obtain a certificate from the Board specifying the passing grade and submit it at the time of online acceptance of the allocated seat

The candidates who qualify in JAM 2018 shall have to fulfill the following Eligibility Requirement (ER) for admissions in IITs.
a) All candidates admitted through JAM should have a Bachelor's degree
b) At least 55% aggregate marks, without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined) for General/OBC-NCL category Candidates and Foreign Nationals; at least 50% aggregate marks, without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC/ST and PwD Category Candidates in the qualifying degree
For Candidates with letter grades/CGPA (instead of percentage of marks), the equivalence in percentage of marks will be decided by the Admitting Institute(s)
Proof of having passed the Qualifying Degree with the Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQ) as specified by the admitting institute should be submitted by 30th September 2018
At the time of admission, all admitted candidates will have to submit a physical fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner in the prescribed form. At the time of admission, the admitted candidates may also have to undergo a physical fitness test by a medical board constituted by the Admitting Institute. In case a candidate is not found physically fit to pursue his/her chosen course of study, his/her admission is liable to be cancelled

Candidates who qualify in any test paper of JAM 2017 shall be eligible to apply for admission to all the academic programmes corresponding to that test paper, provided they also satisfy the minimum educational qualifications and the eligibility requirements, as specified by the Institute(s) in which the admission is sought.
After the declaration of JAM 2017 results, qualified candidates shall be required to apply to the Organizsing Institute (IIT Delhi) specifying their preferences for the programmes for which the admission is sought.
Candidates should note that being in the merit list of any test paper neither guarantees nor provides any automatic entitlement for admission.
Exam Pattern for IIT Joint Admission Test 2018
JAM 2017 Examination will be conducted for the seven test papers, namely: Biological Sciences (BL), Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Geology (GG), Mathematics (MA), Mathematical Statistics (MS) and Physics (PH)
All seven test papers will be of fully objective type, with three different patterns of questions as follows:
Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ): Each MCQ type question has four choices out of which only one choice is the correct answer
Multiple Select Questions (MSQ): Each MSQ type question is similar to MCQ but with a difference that there may be one or more than one choice(s) that are correct out of the four given choices
Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions: For each NAT type question, the answer is a signed real number which needs to be entered using the virtual keypad on the monitor. A virtual calculator will also be available on the computer monitor. No choices will be shown for these type of questions

General Information
(a) JAM 2018 is open to all nationals (Indian/Foreign). Candidates seeking admission to the academic programmes covered under JAM 2018 need to appear in JAM 2018. There is no age restriction.
(b) JAM 2018 is a Computer Based ONLINE Examination. It will be held on 11th February 2018 (Sunday)
(c) For admission, foreign nationals are required to satisfy the rules and regulations of the admitting Institute(s) pertaining to foreign students. For further details, they are advised to contact the concerned Admitting Institute(s)
(d) To apply for admission to a desired programme, a candidate is required to qualify in the relevant Test Paper and also satisfy the Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQs) and Eligibility Requirements (ERs) of the respective Academic Program
(e) The candidates who have either appeared or are due to appear in the final exam of their qualifying degree in 2018 are also eligible to appear in the test. By qualifying in JAM 2018, candidates can apply for provisional admission subject to the condition that: (a) all parts of their final exam shall be completed by the date of registration of the Admitting Institute, and (b) proof of having passed the qualifying degree with required eligibility, as specified by the Admitting Institute, will be submitted by 30th September 2018
(f) Admission to most of the Academic Programmes at various institutes will be made on the basis of merit in JAM 2018
(g) On the basis of performance in JAM 2018, for each test paper, separate merit lists will be prepared for General (GEN), OBC Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL), SC, ST, and Persons with Disability (PwD) category candidates
(h) Requests for the change of category, if any, with proper documentation, should reach the Organizing Institute latest by 10th May 2018
(i) Candidates should note that mere appearance in JAM 2018 or being in the merit list of any test paper neither guarantees nor provides any automatic entitlement to admission. Qualified candidates will have to apply for admission as per the prescribed procedure. Admissions shall be made in order of merit in each category and depending on the number of seats available at the Admitting Institute(s)
(j) In all matters concerning JAM 2018, the decision of the Organizing Institute or the Organizing Chairman, JAM 2018 will be final and binding on all the applicants.
Admit Card
Admit Card, bearing the Candidate's Name, Registration Number, Photograph, Signature and Name(s) and Code(s) of the Test Paper(s) applied along with the Name and Address of the Test Centre allotted, will be available for download from JAM 2018 website from 09th January 2018 till Examination Date. Admit Cards will not be sent by post/E-mail
Candidate should carefully examine the Admit Card for all the entries made therein. In case of any discrepancy, the Candidate should inform the Organizing Chairperson, JAM 2018, IIT Bombay immediately
If a candidate is not able to download the Admit Card, then the Chairman JAM of the respective IISc/IITs (See Appendix III of the JAM Brochure), under which the first choice Test City/Town of the candidate falls, may be contacted through Phone/Fax/Email, giving the Online Enrolment ID, Name, Email ID, Mobile Number, Mailing Address/City Code of the desired Test Centre (first choice) to get information about the Registration Number and the Name of the Test Centre allotted
A printout of the downloaded Admit Card must be brought to the test centre along with the original and valid photo identification. Please note that you have to give the details of this ID proof while filling the online application.
No candidate will be permitted to appear in JAM 2018 examination without a valid Admit Card, and a valid and original ID
The Admit Card of JAM 2018 must be carefully preserved by the Candidate and produced at the time of admission, if required by the Admitting Institute

All applicants who would like to be considered for admission must have passed CEED (Common Entrance Exam for Design). Separate application must be submitted for each discipline alongwith the application fee for each.
CEED ONLINE APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Mode of Payment
a) Application Fee (non-refundable) is 950/- (475/- for SC/ST/PD Applicants)
b) There are two modes of fee payment. You may choose any of the following options:
ü SBI Cash Voucher (through any SBI Branch)
In this case, after filling the Application Form a SBI Cash Voucher is generated along with the Application Printout. It contains your name and other details. You have to take this to any SBI Branch within
ü Demand Draft
In this case, a Demand Draft of the appropriate amount in favour of 'IIT
The following 3 steps are necessary to complete your ONLINE Application.
STEP I: Registration
1) Click 'Registration' on CEED ONLINE Application Homepage.
2) Type in your name & email address in the form. You will be provided with a Registration ID.
Note down your Registration ID.
3) Your Registration ID will also be sent to your email address.
4) This Registration ID is very important for filling the Application Form and accessing the
Application Status.
STEP II: Filling of Application Form and taking Application Printout by the Registered Applicant
ü Read 'Instructions for filling Application Form' given on CEED Application Homepage.
ü Before Clicking on ‘Submit Finally’, you must check that all the information filled by you is correct, as you cannot edit the form after pressing this button.
ü Do not keep the page idle for more than 30 minutes, otherwise the session will expire.
ü You can use 'Save & Continue Later' option for temporary saving of the application and continue later.
ü Registered Applicant should click 'ONLINE Application' on CEED ONLINE Application Homepage.
ü Type in your Registration ID and click 'Fill Form'.
ü Enter your personal details, choice of examination centre and mode of payment.
ü If you are opting paying by Demand Draft then give Demand Draft details.
ü After you are satisfied that the information given is correct click on 'Submit finally’. Note that you can not edit the form after pressing this button.
ü Take Application Printout by clicking 'Print Form' option. Application Printout can be taken only after 'Submit finally' option is clicked.
ü The Application Printout has the information filled in by you in the Application (along with the SBI Cash Voucher if you have selected this option of payment). It also gives your Application Number. Note down your Application Number.
STEP III: Submission of Application Printout (By post/in person)
1. Complete the Application Printout, following the instructions given below.
v Signature of the Applicant: Put your signature in black pen within the box. Signature in the form of ALL CAPITAL LETTERS will NOT be considered as a valid signature.
v Photograph: Paste a good contrast photograph of 3cm width x 4cm height within the box. Do not staple the photograph since it will be scanned. Do NOT sign on the photograph. Do NOT get it attested.
v Declaration by the Applicant: Read the statement and put your signature within the box. Both the signatures on the Application Printout MUST be identical. Signature in the form of ALL CAPITAL LETTERS will NOT be considered as a valid signature.
v Enclosures: Tick in the appropriate box (es) and attach the relevant certificate(s) from the appropriate authority.
2. The completed Application Printout, along with IITB Copy of the SBI Cash Voucher OR the Demand Draft (write your name and application number on the back of the DD), and other enclosures (if any), are to be submitted in an envelope to GATE Office IIT Bombay on or before.
3. Write "CEED 2011 Application" on top of the envelope
4. The Envelope can be submitted in person at the counter of GATE Office, IIT Bombay or mailed only by Registered Post or Speed Post to:
