For admission to the PhD Programme in Design, a candidate must satisfy one of the following criteria:

1.     MArch/ MDes degree or MTech/ ME degree in a relevant area, with at least CPI 6.0 out of 10 or at least 60% marks.

2.     Master’s degree in Applied Arts/ Ergonomics/ Fine Arts/ Visual Arts/ Psychology/ Physiology/ Occupational Safety and Health/ Journalism/ Mass Media Communication with at least CPI 6.0 out of 10 or at least 60% marks.

3.     Two-year Master’s degree in Management (MBA or equivalent) with at least CPI 6.0 out of 10 or at least 60% marks, with relevant studies in Design field, and Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.

4.     Four-year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Design or Engineering/Technology or Five-year BArch degree or equivalent in a relevant area with at least CPI 7.0 out of 10 or at least 70% marks

5.     Four-year Undergraduate Diploma in Design (NID or equivalent), with postgraduate qualification in relevant area with at least CPI 6.0 out of 10 or at least 60% marks.

6.     A two-year Post-Graduate Diploma in Design and relevant areas (NID/CEPT or equivalent) with first class at Bachelor’s level.

7.     BFA (4-year professional programme, after 10+2)/ GD Art (5-year programme after 10th standard) with one-year professional experience, with at least CPI 7.0 out of 10 or at least 70% marks.

8.     Master of Computer Application(MCA) degree, with one year of professional experience, with at least CPI 6.0 out of 10 or at least 60% marks.

9.     A regular student of IIT Guwahati who is continuing his/her MDes studies and having a minimum CPI of 8.0 at the end of second semester may be enrolled in the PhD programme of the Department in the beginning of his/her third semester of study. Such students can receive only PhD Degree.

10.  A student of IIT Guwahati who is continuing his/her BDes studies and having a minimum CPI of 7.0 at the end of sixth semester may be enrolled in the PhD programme of the Department in the beginning of his/her seventh semester of study. Such students can receive dual BDes and PhD Degree. Both the degrees will be awarded after completion of PhD degree.

Relaxation for SC/ST/PwD Candidates: Eligibility criteria will be relaxed by 5% marks or 0.5 CPI for SC/ST/PwD applicants.

1.     A candidate having a Four-year Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent in a relevant area, with a Postgraduate Degree in Management Science(Finance) or MBA with Finance specialization or equivalent, is also considered for admission in the area of specialization ‘Construction Management’, of the Department of Civil Engineering. The candidate should have a minimum of either 6.0 CPI or 60% marks in Bachelor's level and either 6.0 CPI or 60% marks in the postgraduate degree.

2.     A candidate having MSc degree with Mathematics as a subject at bachelor’s level is also considered for admission in the Department of Civil Engineering. The candidate should have a minimum of either 7.0 CPI or 70% marks in Master’s level with consistent first class at other levels.

Alternative Eligibility Criteria for PhD programme in the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering:

1.     A candidate having a Two-year Master's degree (after completion of 4-year Bachelor's degree) or three-year Master's degree (after completion of 3-year Bachelor's degree) in Engineering/ Technology/Science in a relevant area with minimum Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of either 6.0 or 60% of marks is also considered for admission in to PhD Programme in Biosciences and Bioengineering.

2.     A candidate with a Two-year MSc degree (after completion of 3-year Bachelor's degree) in a relevant area with minimum CPI of either 6.0 or 60% marks, is also considered for admission in to PhD Programme in Biosciences and Bioengineering.

Alternative Eligibility Criteria for PhD programme in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering:

1.     Postgraduates in Computer Science (ALCCS) from Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), with a minimum Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of either 6.0 or 60% of marks, are also eligible to apply for admission in to PhD programme in Computer Science and Engineering.

2.     An MTech graduate from the Computer Science and Engineering Department of IIT Guwahati, up to a period of 2 (two) years from his/her completing the programme, with a minimum CPI of 8.0 in course work, may be considered for direct admission into the PhD programme in the Computer Science and Engineering Department.

3.     A candidate having 3-year bachelor’s degree in CS/IT/M&C/Maths/Data Science as major and 2-year MSc degree in CS/IT/M&C/Maths/Data Science with minimum CPI of either 6.0 or 60% of marks and valid GATE score in CS are also eligible to apply for admission into PhD programme in Computer Science and Engineering.

Alternative Eligibility Criteria for PhD programme in the Department of Mechanical Engineering:

1.     A candidate with medical qualification viz., MBBS / BDS / MD / MS / BVSc / MVSc having 60% marks OR Allied health care professional degrees viz., Masters in Physiotherapy / Prosthetics and Orthotics / Occupational Therapy having 60% marks in both bachelor degree and master degree is eligible for PhD programme in Mechanical Engineering.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology in an appropriate area (having Mass Transfer, Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Reaction Engineering, and Process Control, as subjects in undergraduate programme) and a valid GATE score in Chemical Engineering.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission into MTech Programme

Minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% of marks or First Class in the qualifying degree, fulfilling specific requirements for different disciplines, as indicated below:

(a)   All regular category candidates (except those having BTech degrees from an IIT with a minimum CPI of 7.0) must possess a valid score of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). For eligibility for financial assistance for regular category candidates, please see the section “Financial Support” below.

(b)  Minimum experience required for Sponsored (Full-time), Self-Financed, and Part-Time categories of candidates, have also been indicated below.

MININMUM EXPERIENCE FOR SPONSORED FULL-TIME AND PART-TIME CATEGORIES OF APPLICANTS FOR MTECH PROGRAMME

1.      Candidate in Sponsored Full-Time and Part-time categories must be a regular employee of the sponsoring organization with at least 2(two) years of professional experience in the respective field.

2.      Candidates in Self-financed category should have at least 2(two) years of professional experience in the respective field.

Selection: - The Institute reserves the right to call a limited number of candidates for written test or/and interview/portfolio review, if required, based on performance in GATE/CEED, grades/marks in the qualifying examination, etc.

A candidate, including a foreign national, must fulfil each and every one of the following three criteria to appear in UCEED 2018 

Age Limit: The candidate should have been born on or after 01st October 1998 if belonging to the GEN or OBC-NCL category and on or after 01st October 1993 if belonging to the SC/ST or PwD Category 

Number of attempts: A candidate can attempt UCEED for a maximum of two times and that too in consecutive years; note that UCEED score is valid for one year, and only for admissions in the corresponding academic year 

Qualifying Exam: The candidate should have passed the qualifying examination (Class XII or equivalent) in 2017, OR appearing in 2018. Students from ALL STREAMS (Science, Commerce, and Arts & Humanities) are eligible 

Those who appeared for the first time in their qualifying examination in 2016 or earlier are NOT eligible 

Eligibility Criteria for B.Des: 

For admission to B. Des, the candidate should have passed in the qualifying exam. If a qualifying Board awards only letter grades without providing information on the passing

grade on the grade sheet, the candidate should obtain a certificate from the Board specifying the passing grade and submit it at the time of online acceptance of the allocated seat 

In case such a certificate is not provided, the decision taken by the B.Des admissions Committee will be final. Candidates should have qualified in UCEED 2018 

The criteria, as specified above, is applicable "in toto" to all the candidates including foreign nationals 

Qualifying Examination: 

i. The final exam of the 10+2 system, conducted by a Central or State Board recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (www.aiuweb.org) 

ii. Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Exam conducted by a Board or University recognized by the AIU; final exam of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy 

iii. Sr. Secondary School Exam conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects; any Public School, Board or University exam in  or in a foreign country recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the AIU India

iv. HSC vocational examination 

v. A Diploma recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education or a State Board of Technical Education of at least 3 years duration 

vi. High School Certificate Exam of the   or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office,  GenevaUniversityCambridge

vii. Candidates who have completed Class XII (or equivalent) exam outside  or from a Board not specified above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities to the effect that the exam they have passed is equivalent to the Class XII exam India

viii. In case the Class XII exam is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) exam earlier

Admit Card 

Candidates whose application is complete in all aspects will be able to download the admit card for UCEED 2018 from the online application portal (www.uceed.in) from the date specified below 

The admit card will bear the following details of the candidate: Name, UCEED application ID, Roll Number for UCEED 2018, photograph, signature, examination schedule, examination centre details and instructions to candidates

UCEED 2018 Exam Pattern 

UCEED-IIT 2018 exam will be conducted in the 20th January 2018 the exam patter is given below. One thing which a candidate should do is take the print of admit card, only then he/she will be entertained for exam 

There will be ONE question paper of 3 hours duration 

The question paper will be in English 

The question paper will be administered through a computer based test 

The question paper will carry a total of 300 marks

10+2 Science Stream with PCM and Entrance Test IIT JEE Advance

Scores of JEE (Main) - 2015 Top 1,50,000 candidates qualified in Paper - I (including all the categories) are eligible to register for JEE (Advanced) - 2015. To write JEE (Advanced) -2015 all eligible candidates should register through online at [http://jeeadv.iitd.ac.in/] After online registration, candidates must pay the examination fee as applicable through challan (generated during registration process) of all SBI branches having core banking solution (CBS). The examination fee for GE and OBC(NCL) male candidates is Rs. 1800/-. The fee for SC, ST, PD male candidates is Rs. 900/-. There is no fee for female candidates of all categories. Registration is complete only after the payment.

Important: The applicants must note that application for JEE (Advanced) - 2015 cannot be withdrawn after registration and payment of fee. Claims for refund of registration fee will not be entertained under any circumstances. While registering for JEE (Advanced) - 2015, candidate need to provide following information.

MININMUM EXPERIENCE FOR SPONSORED FULL-TIME AND PART-TIME CATEGORIES OF APPLICANTS FOR MTECH PROGRAMME

1.      Candidate in Sponsored Full-Time and Part-time categories must be a regular employee of the sponsoring organization with at least 2(two) years of professional experience in the respective field.

2.      Candidates in Self-financed category should have at least 2(two) years of professional experience in the respective field.

Selection: - The Institute reserves the right to call a limited number of candidates for written test or/and interview/portfolio review, if required, based on performance in GATE/CEED, grades/marks in the qualifying examination, etc.

Relaxation for SC/ST/PD Candidates: Eligibility criteria will be relaxed by 5% marks or 0.5 CPI for SC/ST/PD  applicants.

For admission to the PhD Programme in engineering departments, a candidate must satisfy one of the following criteria:

1.      Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology/ Medical Sciences/Veterinary Sciences/ Pharmacy in a relevant area with a minimum Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of 6.5 or 60% of marks.

2.      Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology/Medical Sciences in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 7.5 or 70% of marks.

3.      Bachelor’s degree from an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 7.0.

4.      A candidate having MSc degree with Mathematics as a subject at bachelor’s level is also considered for admission in the Department of Civil Engineering. The candidate should have a minimum of 7.5 CPI or 70% marks in Master’s level with consistent first class at other levels.

5.      A candidate with MSc in a relevant area is also considered for admission to the Department of Biotechnology. The Candidate should have a minimum of 7.5 CPI or 70% marks in Master’s level.

6.      A regular student of IIT Guwahati who is continuing his/her MTech studies and having a minimum CPI of 8.0 at the end of second semester may be enrolled in the PhD programme of the Department in the beginning of his/her third semester of study. Such students can receive only PhD Degree.

1.      Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology/ Medical Sciences/Veterinary Sciences/ Pharmacy in a relevant area with a minimum Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of 6.5 or 60% of marks.
