(i) A Master's degree in the relevant subject or a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science (4-year programme) with marks/CPI not below the specified minimum.

(ii) The candidate must have a valid GATE score or must have qualified JRF, or should have the INSPIRE fellowship. The percentages of various categories of candidates to be shortlisted are: 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST and the remaining 50.5% is OPEN for all. Within each of these four categories, 5% horizontal reservation is available for PwD candidates. 

The following table show the order to be followed while choosing top 2,24,000* candidates in various categories based on the performance in Paper-1 of JEE (Main) 2018. 

Criterion 2 - Age Limit: 

Candidates should have been born on or after 01st October 1993. 5 years relaxation is given to SC/ST and PwD candidates, i.e., these candidates should have been born on or after 01st October 1988 

Reservation of Seats for JEE Advanced 2018 

As per the rules of the Govt of India, candidates belonging to certain categories are admitted to seats reserved for them based on relaxed criteria. These categories are:

Candidates (belonging to OBC (NCL), SC/ST and PwD) who will be eligible to write JEE Advanced must upload the soft (scanned) copy of their certificate during the online registration 

SC/ST Candidates: For candidates belonging to SC and ST categories, 15% and 7.5 seats, respectively, are reserved in every program in all IITs and ISM Dhanbad. Candidates belonging to these categories will be declared qualified on the basis of a relaxed criterion 

OBC (NCL) Candidates: For candidates belonging to OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), 27% of the seats are reserved in all IITs, and ISM Dhanbad. For the purpose of reservation of seats in JEE Advanced, a candidates will be considered as OBC only in he/she belongs to the non-creamy layer of this category 

Personas with Disability (PwD): In each institute 3% of seats in every category are reserved for Persons with Disability (PwD); for any type of disability (viz, locomotor, visual, dyslexia, speech, and / or hearing) benefit would be given those who have at least 40% physical impairment 

Candidates who are Persons with Disability will be required to submit the original certificate issued by a district medical board/competent authority in the prescribed format at the time of admission 

Preferential Allotment of Seats: Defence Service (DS) category candidates are children of defence / paramilitary personnel killed or permanently disabled in action during war or peacetime operations; two seats are available for preferential allotment in each Institute for DS category candidates

For General and OBC Applicants: Candidates should have:

Engineering (with Mathematics as one of the subjects in the UG program), or four year degree program leading to B.Sc degree (with Mathematics as one of the subjects in the UG program), or M.Sc (with Mathematics as one of the subjects in the UG program), or M.A in Economics (with Mathematics as one of the subjects in the UG program) with aggregate of 55% or a CPI of 5.5 on a scale of 10 from any AICTE recognized institute/university, IITs, NITs, and IIITs.

Overall CAT-2017 score of 75 percentile and above.

55% and above in class X and class XII examinations.

Candidates appearing for the final degree examination can also apply.

Candidates should send demand draft in favor of Registrar, IIT Kanpur payable at Kanpur. The application fees for general and OBC candidates is Rs 1600/- and for SC/ST/PH is Rs. 800/-.

Selection Procedure for IIT, Kanpur:

Applicant must appear for the CAT 2017 examination conducted by IIMs.

Candidates will be selected on the basis of the rank/score obtained in the CAT-2017, Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI).

- Candidates must have passed a degree / diploma / post graduate degree programme of 4 years or 3+2 years (after 10+2 level), or must be appearing for the final examination of such a program by July 2018, or must have passed the GD Arts diploma programme (10+5 level) by July 2017

- Before applying for CEED, candidates are advised to check whether they meet the required eligibility criteria for admission to various institutes

- There is no age limit to appear for CEED. Besides, a candidate can appear for CEED any number of times. The CEE 2018 score is valid for a period of one year from the date of declaration of the results.

Exam Pattern for CEED 2018

CEED 2018 will be conducted on Sunday, 20th January 2018, 10.00 am - 01.00 pm. The language of the question paper will be English.

The examination will consist of two parts, Part A and Part B. Candidates have to attempt questions from both the parts. Part A consist multiple choice (MCQ) type questions and Part B consist of design and hand drawing type questions

Part A will be conducted from 10.00 to 11.00 Hrs. followed by Part B from 11.00 to 13.00 Hrs.

Answer to Part A has to be given in the computer itself. Answer to Part B has to be given in the answer book provided by the invigilator. These answer books will be collected for manual correction at the end of the examination

Part A will be used as screening test. If N is the total number of seats available in all the participating institutes, then approximately the top 10xN candidates will be shortlisted from Part A. Part B will be evaluated only for the candidates who are shortlisted from Part A. Only Part B score will be used for CEED 2018 merit list

The final CEED score will be calculated by giving 25% weightage to marks obtained in Part A marks and 75% weightage to scores obtained in Part B.

After the declaration of the result, CEED 2018 score cards will be available for downloading to all the qualified candidates. Hard copy of the CEED score cards will NOT be sent to the qualified candidates. Answer booklet (Part B) will not be provided to the candidates

CEED 2018 Selection Process 

The candidates who clear the CEED 2017 Result with the minimum marks required qualify for the CEED 2017 Selection Process. The CEED 2017 Selection Process is a three step process. The candidates have to pass through three screens for admissions to the desired programme

CEED 2018 Application Fee

Rs.1100/- for all women candidates

Rs.1100/- for (SC/ST/PwD) candidates

Rs.2200/- for all other candidates

The application fee has to be paid through the payment option provided on the website while submitting the application form. Credit card, debit card and net-banking options are available and the transaction charges have to be borne the candidates

Post clicking on Pay Fee and Submit, you are redirected to Bill desk for payment process. Enter the account number in case of Internet Banking, Card number and CVV number for Debit Card and Card number and PIN for Credit Card users. Verify and click on Pay to complete the payment process

Candidates have to pay the CEED 2018 Application fee during the CEED 2018 Application Process

The normal registration fee shown above is applicable till the regular closing date of 10th November 2017, 23:45 hours. A late fee of Rs.500 is applicable to ALL candidates for registrations submitted after the regular closing date

Selection Procedure for IIT, Kanpur:

A valid GATE/CEED score is required for admission to the M.Tech./M.Des./M.S. by Research programs in the case of regular candidates. 

These admissions may be made directly based on the GATE/CEED scores of the candidates and performance in the qualifying examination, and in addition, some of the candidates may also be called for written tests and/or interviews. 

Admission to the Ph.D programs will be based on written tests and/or interviews of the candidates shortlisted.

For SC and ST Applicants: Candidates should have:

Overall CAT-2015 score of 75 percentile and above.

55% and above in class X and class XII examinations.

Candidates appearing for the final degree examination can also apply.

Candidates can apply online from the day after the declaration of CAT-2015 Results.

Candidates should send demand draft in favor of Registrar, IIT Kanpur payable at Kanpur. The application fees for general and OBC candidates is Rs 1600/- and for SC/ST/PH is Rs. 800/-.

Selection Procedure for IIT, Kanpur:

Applicant must appear for the CAT 2015 examination conducted by IIMs.

Candidates will be selected on the basis of the rank/score obtained in the CAT-2015, Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI).
