Candidates having M.A./M.Sc. degree from a recognized university in India or abroad with a minimum of 55% (50% for reserved candidates) of aggregate marks/equivalent grade in the subjects; Anthropology, Bio-statistics, Development Studies, Economics, Geography, Health Statistics, Mathematics, Population Studies, Political Science, Population Education, Psychology, Rural Development, Social Work, Sociology, and Statistics will be eligible for admission. Candidates having Master degree, other than subjects specified above and having at least two years of experience in Population and Health related field are also eligible to apply.
Candidates who have already passed the qualifying degree examinations and those who have already appeared/ shall be appearing in the final qualifying examinations are eligible to apply. However, the admission of the candidate will be cancelled, if s/he fails to furnish final result by September 30, 2022.
Age Limit: The upper age limit is 28 years as on June 30, 2022
Selection Criteria: The selection will be made on the basis of an Online Test. The Online Entrance Test will comprise objective type questions of multiple choices. The syllabus of Entrance Test will consist of Basic General Knowledge, Logical Reasoning, English Grammar, Basic Mathematics, Population, Health and Social Science issues. The test venue will be notified in the Admit Card.
Reservation: Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/EWS will be considered as per the Government of India norms only.

Candidates having Ph.D. degree in Population Studies or subjects related to Population, Health Sciences, Gender Studies, Development Studies and Social Sciences are eligible to apply. Selection Criteria: Selection will be based on the research proposal presentation and personal Interview. All selected candidates are required to be at the Institute as a full-time research fellow.
Fellowship: The selected Indian candidates will be awarded Government of India fellowship @Rs. 50,000/- plus HRA per month for one year.
Processing Fee: The non-refundable processing fee is Rs. 1000/- for General category, Rs. 500/- for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and Rs. 500/- for EWS category, Rs. 250/- for SC/ST/PWD category. The bank draft should be in favour of Director, IIPS, Mumbai. Processing fee will not be charged from the foreign candidates while submission of application forms.

Course Fees: Five percent of the monthly fellowship for availing facilities viz; library, computer centre, internet, and space.

The part-time Ph.D. programme shall be open to candidates with Master’s degree and at least five years of work experience after Master’s Degree in the field of Population Studies/Demography/Public Health in academic institutions/central and state governments/research and development organizations, who are unable to pursue the doctoral programme in full-time mode. The applicants for part-time Ph.D. programme shall be exempted from appearing for the online entrance test. The Pre-Ph.D. course work (eight months duration) shall be compulsory for the candidates admitted to the Ph.D. programme under part-time mode. Total duration of part-time Ph.D. programme shall be for a minimum of four years (including coursework) and maximum of six years.
Age Limit: No age limit
Selection Criteria: Candidates should apply online. However, they are required to send a hard copy of research proposal to the Institute. Selection will be based on off-line written test and personal interview conducted by the Ph.D. Admission Committee of the Institute. The Institute shall not bear travel expense of the candidates called for the written test and interview.
Government of India Fellowship: Two Seats No fellowship.

Guidelines: The following guidelines are applicable for the Integrated programme with different options and fellowships:
A. UGC-JRF and other equivalent External Fellowships
i) All students enrolled for the Integrated M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes shall undergo fulltime onesemester coursework for six months.
ii) Only those students who have cleared M.Phil. coursework with A Only and above grade (equivalent of 65% and above for general students) or B Plus and above grade (equivalent of 55% and above for SC/ST/OBC/PWD students) are eligible for opting mid-stream option.
iii) Students who have been successful in course work (A Only and above grade for general students and B-Plus and above grade for SC/ST/OBC/PWD students), but are desirous of completing M.Phil. can continue and submit the dissertation for the award of M.Phil. degree. Such students desiring to complete M.Phil. degree are required to submit a formal application.
iv) All other students will continue M.Phil. and submit their dissertation. These students will be allowed to continue Ph.D. programme, provided they have secured B-Plus and above (equivalent 55%) of General candidate and B-Only or a b o v e (equivalent of 50% and above for SC/ST/OBC/PWD students) in M.Phil. degree. However, those external fellowship holders after successfully completing M.Phil degree (fulfilling eligibility criteria ) need to register for Ph.D program within 15 days of declaration of M.Phil results.
B. Government of India Fellowship
i) All those who got admission in the Integrated M.Phil. and Ph.D. Programme with Government of India fellowship but subsequently passed JRF or got funding from any other sources and secured A only and above grade (equivalent of 65% and above for general students) or B Plus and above grade (equivalent of 55% and above for SC/ST/OBC/PWD students) in course work are eligible for opting mid-stream option. Such students desiring to move into the Ph.D. programme are required to submit a formal application.
ii) The students enrolled in Integrated M.Phil. and Ph.D. Programme with Government of India fellowship and not cleared UGC/CSIR-JRF or any other national level fellowship for Ph.D. programme have to complete the M.Phil. degree and seek fresh admission for Ph.D. programme.
Selection Criteria: The admission to Integrated M.Phil. and Ph.D. Programme is through a three-stage process; on line test, proposal writing and personal interview. The online Entrance Test will consist of objective type questions of multiple choices. The syllabus of Entrance Test will consist of questions on English, Logical Reasoning, Statistics, Mathematics, Bio-statistics, Research Methodology, Population Studies, Demography, and Epidemiology. The test venue will be notified in the Admit Card. Based on the performance in the Online Test, shortlisted candidates will be called for proposal writing and personal interview at IIPS. Final selection will be based on the weighted average of scores of Online Test, proposal writing and personal interview. The Institute will not bear any travel expense of the candidates called for the test/personal interview.
Reservation: Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PWD & Female candidates will be considered as per the Government of India norms
Registration for Admission Test and Processing Fee: All eligible candidates are required to register online by visiting the Institute’s website www.iipsindia.org during 26th November, 2018 to 4th January, 2019.
The non-refundable processing fee is Rs. 1000/- for General category, Rs. 500/- for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) category, Rs. 250/- for SC/ST/PWD category. Processing fee will not be charged from foreign candidates at the time of submission of completed application forms. The hard copy of the online application form along with supporting documents should reach to “The Assistant Registrar (Academic), International Institute for Population Sciences, Govandi Station Road, Deonar, Mumbai-400088” on or before 11th January, 2019.

· Candidates having MA/MSc. degree (passed/appearing) in Anthropology, Biostatistics, Economics, Geography, Health Statistics, Mathematics, Political Science, Population Education, Psychology, Rural Development, Social Work, Sociology, and Statistics from a recognized university in India or abroad with a minimum of 55% of aggregate marks/equivalent grade.

Government of India Fellowships of Rs.10,000/- per month for 1st and 2nd years and Rs.12,000/- per month for 3rd year respectively available for the Indian students who have qualified NET for lectureship only in population or its inter-disciplinary subjects conducted by the UGC. Such Ph.D fellowship also carries a contingency grant of Rs. 10,000/- per year for the first two years and Rs. 20,500/- for the third year. However the candidates, without NET qualification shall be given fellowship of Rs.6,250/- per month for the 1st and 2nd years, and Rs.7,000/- per month for the 3rd year, with an annual contingency grant of Rs. 10,000/-. Number of seats will be as per the availability of fellowships at the time of admission. Reservation for SC / ST candidates will be considered as per the UGC norms.
