For Indian Students

·          Master’s Degree with minimum 55% of marks secured in the relevant or related subjects of at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) or of any other University recognized by JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) as equivalent thereto.

·          Candidates who are qualified for CA or ACS or ICWA with basic degree / NDA / MBBS / are also eligible to register for Ph.D. program.

·          Candidates who have qualified for a Master’s Degree before 19-09-1991, with not less than 50% of the marks are also eligible to register for the Ph.D. program in JAIN (Deemed-to-be University).

·          SC / ST candidates are given a 5% exemption from the prescribed minimum marks.

For Foreign National Students

·          Foreign/ NRI applicants / Applicants with a Master’s degree from a foreign university must apply with an equivalence certificate of AIU along with the Online Application Form.

Selection Procedure

After passing the entrance test, the candidates will be called for the interview. Based on the interview results, selected candidates will be notified of their selection to the program. The Doctoral Research Committee will allocate Guides to the candidates after completion of the admission process.

·          The candidates desirous to seek admission are required to apply online. Only those applicants, who apply online before the last date and satisfy the eligibility criteria, will be considered for admission.

Admission Process

Written Test and Interview. Candidates who have cleared NET/SLET/GATE with valid scores are exempted from the written test and can attend the interview directly.

Applicant must have an aggregate of 50% in bachelor's degree in any discipline or equivalents (10+2+3) without any backlogs are eligible to apply for Post graduate programs.

Applicant with composite score of 500 in GMAT/MAT or with minimum 70 percentages in CAT/ XAT/ CMAT may also apply.

In order to be eligible for the Bachlor of Arts (Journalism and Mass Communication) Program (Duration – Six Semesters), students must have completed their PUC/SYJC /12th standard in any discipline. Only candidates who have achieved 60% and above in PUC/SYJC/12th standard are eligible to apply for the BA (Journalism and Mass Communication) Program

Incase of OBC/SC/ST eligibility will be relaxed to the extent of 5%; however the final selection will be based on merit only

Selection Procedure

Review

Once your application has been reviewed, the CMS Admission Office will conduct the Jain Entrance Test according to the schedule opted by you

The written test will consist of 4 sections (total 100 marks) and additionally a psychometric test

General paper on media awareness and general knowledge (Manorama yearbook and major newspapers and magazines and TV channels covering national and international affairs, culture and enterainment

Basic English Test – Editing a passage

Writing a Position paper

The written examination will be followed by a personal interview

Personal Interview: The final rung of the ladder involves a personal interview. Candidates who have emerged successful from the other levels will be called to attend a personal interview with the CMS Admission Committee

Final Decision: On completion of the personal interview, the CMS Admission Committee will review your application again, carefully re-evaluating your personal details, presentation, performance at the Group Discussion, and the conclusions drawn from your interview

Applying for the Program

Application form will be available at the college campus from 07th December 2015, Monday between 09.00 hours and 15.00 hours. Completed application forms will be accepted from 07th December 2015, Monday onwards

Step 1

To get the prospectus and application from the office; the cost of BA (Journalism and Mass Communication) application form is INR 500/-

To receive the same by courier (domestic) please send a DD for INR 600/- for BA (Journalism and Mass Communication) application form. For foreign students the cost of BA (Journalism and Mass Communication) application form is USD 50; the DD should be in favour of “Center for Management Studies” payable at Bangalore

The Demand Draft should be couriered to the below address “The BA (Journalism and Mass Communication) Admission Office, Center for Management Studies, Jain University, #133, Lalbagh Road, Bangalore-560027”

Step 2

Submit the filled application form to admissions office at the address mentioned above along with 2 Photocopies of 10th and 11th marks card and 2 recent passport size color photos

Candidate should hold a Master’s Degree (from a recognised university) in the relevant subject with a minimum of 55% (In the case of SC, ST candidates there will be a relaxation of 5%). Selection will be through an Entrance Test and Interview.

Candidates who have passed UGC, CSIR, Fellowship holders shall be exempted from the Written Test; but they will need to take up the Interview.

Candidates who hold a Masters Degree viz., M.Tech, M.Sc (Engineering) in Civil, Mechanical, Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering (Structural or Associated disciplines) are eligible for the Ph.D. (Aerospace Engineering) Programme.

Scholarships

A few research scholarships are available for selected meritorious candidates who are not currently employed and are willing to take up a Research, Teaching Assistantship.

The candidate should submit his , her application to the University, in the prescribed form with a DD of Rs 1000,-in the favour of Jain University, payable at Bangalore, along with other necessary documents; viz., degree certificate, marks cards and such other documents prescribed along with receipt for having paid the prescribed fee. In case of employed candidates, no objection, deputation certificate from the employer, for pursuing research is necessary.
