  • About National Dairy Research Institute:

    The National Dairy Research Institute as country's premier Dairy Research institution has developed considerable expertise over the last five decades in different areas of Dairy Production, Processing, Management and Human Resource Development. Information generated at the Institute and the services offered have contributed to the growth of Dairy Industry as a whole and well-being of millions of milk producers and consumers of milk and milk products. Realizing the challenging need of global Dairy Trade, the Institute is continuously working to develop its R&D and HRD programmes to better serve the nation in terms of food security, employment generation, poverty alleviation and economic prosperity.


    The National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal was originally started as Imperial Institute of Animal Husbandry and Dairying in 1923 at Bangalore. It was expanded and renamed as Imperial Dairy Institute in 1936 and was known as National Dairy Research Institute after independence in 1947.  Subsequently, in 1955, NDRI Headquarter was shifted to Karnal. Facilities at Bangalore were retained to function as a Regional Station to serve the Southern States.

    Eligibility:

    Candidates having passed their 10th Standard or equivalent examination from recognized board are eligible to apply for the Entrance Examination. The candidates due to appear for the final qualifying examination in 2015 may also apply, provided the results will be available on or before 31st July 2015 (date of First Counselling).

    The candidates must have secured at least 50% marks for General and OBC and 40% for SC/ST and Physically Handicapped Categories in the qualifying examination.

    Candidates from NEH States and their selection procedure: Five NEH states nominated candidates shall be admitted over and above the seats with the approval of competent authority.

    Age Limit: Minimum age limit for candidates shall be 15 years as on 31 July 2015 and the maximum age limit shall be 21 years.

    How to apply:

    The downloaded Application Form shall be filled and submitted along with a Demand Draft of Rs.600/

    The  Information Bulletin and Application Form can also be obtained from the “In Charge, Academic Cell, National Dairy Research Institute, Eastern Regional Station, A-12 Block, Kalyani, District Nadia- 741235 by hand from 13 April 2015 to 11 May 2015

    To obtain Application by post, do so  between 13 April 2015 to 08 May 2015 by sending a Demand Draft for Rs.600/- drawn at any nationalized bank in favour of “ERS of NDRI” payable at Kalyani along with a request stating the following information:

    1. Name of the Candidate (in capital letters)

    2. Full Postal Address with PIN code and Contact Number

    3. Details of Demand Draft

    NOTE:  Cheque/Postal Order/money order are not acceptable.

    Eligibility:

    Candidates having passed (or due to appear in the final examination) their Master’s degree in the concerned field with Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA) of at least 6.60/10.00 in ten-point scale, at least 3.25/5.00 in five-point scale. At least 2.60/4.00 in four-point scale for General, OBC and UPS categories whereas for SC/ST/Physically Handicapped (PH) candidates the said requirement is an OGPA of at least 5.60/10.00, 2.20/4.00 respectively.

    In other cases, where grade-points are not awarded and only marks are awarded, the candidate must have secured at least 60% marks for General, OBC and UPS categories whereas for SC/ST/PH the requirement is 50% marks. (Please note that equivalence between OGPA and % marks not be acceptable). The candidate must have completed all requirements including thesis viva voce examination or project training etc. on or before 31st July. 2013

    In-Service-Candidates:

    Candidates in permanent employment with Central/State Governments and Universities with minimum two years service (as on 31st July 2013) in the relevant field of specialization and otherwise meeting the eligibility requirements given above can apply as in-service candidates. The candidates must be fully sponsored by the employer. The in-service-candidates are also required to appear in the entrance examination and obtain minimum qualifying marks for admission in in-service-candidate.


    How to apply:

    Information Bulletin and Application Form can be obtained from the officer of Registrar (Academic) by post w.e.f. 1.2.2013 to 11.3.2013 and form the cash Counter of Cashier, NDRI, Karnal, w.e.f. 1.2.2013 to 15.3.2013 and form the cash Computer of Cashier, NDRI, Karnal w.e.f. 1.2.2013 TO 15.3.2013 BY Paying Rs. 1200/- in cash. The information Bulletin can also be obtained by post from the Registrar, NDRI, Karnal-132001 (Haryana) but submitting a DD of Rs. 1200/- drawn in favour of ICAR UNIT, NDRI, KARNAL “payabe on any Nationalised Bank at Karnal. No cheque/postal order/money order is acceptance. While making request for supply of information bulletin the following information should be given:

    1.      Nake (in capital letters)

    2.      Full postal address with PIN Code.

    3.      Course in which candidates seeking admission

    4.      Details of Demand Draft

    The application form and information bulletin can also be downloaded from NDRI Website: www.ndri.res.in. The completed form may be submitted to the Registrar (Academic), University Officer, National Dairy Research Institute. Karnal-132001 along with bank draft of Rs 1200/-. The bank draft must be drawn in favour of “ICAR Unit, NDRI, Karnal”.
