About National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped:
National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped established in the year 1984 at Manovikasnagar, Secunderabad (AP) is an Autonomous Body under the administrative control of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India and thus the institute is fast approaching towards its silver jubilee to celebrate its dedicated services to persons with mental retardation in the national interest.

NIMH has three regional centers located at New Delhi, Kolkata, & Mumbai, NIMH Model Special Education Center located at New Delhi. The institute endeavors to excel in building capacities to empower persons with mental retardation. Since the quality of life of every person with mental retardation is equal to other citizens in the country, in that they live independently to the maximum extent possible and through constant professional endeavors, National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped empowers the persons with mental retardation to access the state of the art rehabilitation intervention viz., educational, therapeutic, vocational, employment, leisure and social activities, sports, cultural programmes and full participation. Course Name: Bachelor of Rehabilitation Therapy BRT
Course Description: Bachelor of Rehabilitation Therapy (BRT) Full Time (4 Years) The course is affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Kashmere Gate, Delhi and is recognized by Rehabilitation Council of India. The course is designed to impart students knowledge & skills in rehabilitation therapy to enable them to deliver rehabilitation therapy to the persons with various common disabilities such as visual, hearing, physical & mental disability. The course will be conducted by NIMH, Regional Centre, Lajpat Nagar-II, New Delhi -110 024.

Eligibility:
Minimum educational requirement for admission to this course is 10+2 or equivalent examinations with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology subjects. In case of general category aggregate marks should be 50% and above and in other categories aggregate marks should be 45% & above the candidate should have also passed English as a subject of study (core or elective) in the qualifying examination.

The admission to the course is based on the marks obtained in 10+2 or equivalent examination.

Age: The Candidate must be less than 21 years of age as on 01.08.2016.

Number of seats: 20 (Out of which 3 seats are reserved for SC, 01 seat reserved for ST candidates and 01 seat for person with physical disability in one lower limb only). 85% of total seats will be offered to candidates from Delhi and 15% from outside Delhi. Duration: The duration of the course is 4 academic years including six months of internship.
