Age Limit:
· For Indian Nationals in General Category and General EWS Category: Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 2000 are eligible to apply for admission.

Applications for academic year 2020-21 are open to applicants who have passed or will appear for higher secondary (10+2) qualifying examinations in the academic year 2019-20 in any stream (Science, Arts, Commerce, Humanities, etc.) from any recognised board of education such as CBSE, IB, ICSE or their equivalent.
Examinations considered equivalent to these are as follows:
· Final examination of the 10+2 system under a central or state board recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
· Intermediate or two-year pre-university examination under a board or university recognised by the Association of Indian Universities.
· Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
· Senior secondary school examination under the National Institute of Open Schooling, with a minimum of five subjects.
· Any public school, board or university examination completed in India or in any foreign country recognised as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities.
· H.S.C. vocational examination.
· General Certificate Education (GCE) examination at the Advanced (A) level taken in London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka.

To be eligible for selection to the PhD programme, the candidate must be a citizen of India and hold at least one of the following qualifications:
A Master’s level qualification3 in Design,
OR
A Bachelor’s level qualification in Design4 from NID,
PLUS
A minimum of 3 years of professional or teaching experience.
OR
Master’ s degree in Philosophy(eg, M.Phil) in Design

Successful completion of Faculty Development Programme of NID

of a similar program for the Design field of at least two years from any other recognised University.
Candidates who are scheduled to complete the final year of their qualifying examinations and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply for the PhD programme. In such cases, their candidature shall be provisional and confirmation of selection shall be subject to successful completion of the qualifying exams. Provisional acceptance will be confirmed only if the candidates secure the minimum grade/marks in their qualifying examination and submit its results to the Institute before the commencement of the programme. Failing this, the provisional status granted to such candidates shall automatically stand cancelled.

Bachelor degree of minimum 3-year duration in any specialization, after 12th standard or equivalent to 12th standard. Condition: Applicants must have passed the Bachelor degree examinations before June 2019.
OR
Full-time Diploma of minimum 4-year duration in Design/Fine Arts/Applied Arts/ Architecture, after 12th standard or equivalent to 12th standard, from any university or institute recognised by law in India. Condition: Applicants must have passed the Diploma examinations at the time of document verification tentatively scheduled in April/May 2020*.
* Applicants in the final year of their Bachelor degree/ Full-time Diploma programme whose universities may not have issued the final degree certificate by the date of application to NID, are eligible to apply, subject to passing all subjects without any backlog. Such candidate will have to submit/produce Provisional Degree certificate at the time of counseling.

In case the degree/certificate has been obtained from a university/board of any country other than India, an equivalence certificate must be obtained by the candidate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, at the time of document verification tentatively scheduled in June 2020. b) For applicants applying to undergraduate programmes, Please make a choice for the specific programme – (i) only B.Des. (ii) only GDPD (iii) both B.Des. and GDPD. Please note that once the payment formalities are completed, this choice cannot be altered..

d) ‘Save & Exit’. You can always login at a later time and continue to complete the application process.
