About National Institute of Plant Genome Research:
The National Institute of Plant Genome Research (formerly known as National Centre for Plant Genome Research) is an autonomous institution aided by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The Institute's establishment coincides with the 50th anniversary of India's independence as well as birth anniversary of Prof. (Dr.) J. C. Bose. The formal announcement was made on November 30th 1997. This Institute has already placed India among the major contributors to plant genomics. It is hoped that in coming years, the ongoing efforts of NIPGR will allow India to emerge as one of the most important national and international resource institutes for material, knowledge and technologies in the areas of functional, structural, evolutionary and applied genomics of plants, including crop plants.

Eligibility:
The Institute invites online applications from candidates who have completed or will be completing M.Sc. or equivalent degree (by August 31, 2022) in Life Sciences and/or in related disciplines with minimum 55% marks [a relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50% or an equivalent relaxation of grade, will be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled and other categories of candidates, or for those who had obtained their Master's degree prior to 19th September, 1991], and have cleared the CSIR-UGC NET exam/DBT-JRF (selected through BET/BINC)/ICMR NET exam for JRF (with a Junior Research Fellowship activation valid at least up to August 31, 2022), with DST INSPIRE Fellowship for pursuing full-time Ph.D. program, for conducting advanced research in the frontier areas of Plant Biology such as, Computational Biology, Developmental Biology, Genome Analysis and Molecular Mapping, Molecular Mechanism of Abiotic Stress Responses, Plant-Microbe/Insect Interactions and Plant Immunity, Nutritional Genomics, Genetic Engineering, Genome Editing and Molecular Breeding for Crop Improvement and other emerging areas in the field. Reservations are as per statutory norms. The selection will be made on the basis of interview/Viva-Voce.

The application fee is Rs. 300/- (Rs. 100/- for SC/ST candidates provided relevant documentary proof is enclosed with the Application Form). The application fee is not refundable. (Caste certificates issued by the Union/Central Government only will be considered for admission against the reserved seats).

The admission Form is to be filled and submitted ONLINE ONLY along with required documents uploaded in the given format and an online payment through SBI Collect. No hard copies will be accepted.
