The National Law University Odisha (NLUO) promises to be an exciting new development in the field of legal education. A very new institution, its establishing Act of legislature was notified as recently as April 2009 and within a span of four months, classes commenced with the entrance being conducted in May. Now in its second year, the University has made a name for itself by earning laurels with excellent performance of its students in various seminars, conferences and moot courts.

Currently the University has admitted students from no less than twenty-five States, representing a diverse range of socio-economic, ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds. 1. An applicant seeking admission to Ph.D. programme must have Master’s Degree in Law from any recognised University securing not less than 55% marks or its equivalent in grade; or
2. Degree in Law and a Master’s Degree in Social Science or Humanities, Management Studies or Sciences from any recognised University with not less than 55% marks or its equivalent grade; or
3. Obtained a Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Humanities or Management Studies from any recognised University with 55% marks and have had at least two years of teaching experience or Ph.D. in any discipline.
4. In case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non creamy layer) and differently able candidates a relaxation of 5% marks from 55% to 50% or an equivalent relaxation of grade shall be done.
Applicants are required to submit the following:
1. Completed application form
2. Three copies of the proposed research topic (10 Pages) of a contemporary issue with the broad frame work of Law & related subjects.
3. A demand draft of Rs. 3000/- drawn in favour of “Registrar National Law University Odisha”
4. Attested photocopies of eligibility qualification certificates and mark sheets;
5. One set of published papers, monographs, articles and books (if applicable);
6. Certificate from the Institution concerned testifying the length of service (if required);
7. A passport size photograph.

Selection Procedure:
Submitted application forms will to be screened, and candidates found eligible will be required to appear for an entrance examination on 10th December, 2013
Foreign nationals and candidates who have passed the NET or JRF examinations are exempted from appearing in the entrance examination
