Nirma University held its 28th Annual Convocation Ceremony on October 16, 2019, where 1,644 students from various institutes of the University received their degrees. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr Guenter Butschek, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director, Tata Motors Ltd. This year Nirma University conferred degrees to 11 PhD, 442 postgraduate and 1,191 graduate students. Students from Institute of Technology, Institute of Management, Institute of Law, Institute of Pharmacy, Institute of Science, Institute of Architecture and Planning, and Institute of Commerce received their graduation, postgraduation and PhD degrees. The president of the Nirma University, Dr Karsanbhai K Patel congratulated the students and wished them success in their future endeavours.

· The Application Form Processing Fee for the Ph.D. Programme is Rs. 1250/- (non-refundable). The application will be considered complete only after payment of the Application Form Processing Fee through online mode.
· The applicant who fulfills the necessary requirements can apply for the Ph.D. admissions in Full-Time, Part-Time, Part-Time (Visvesvaraya Scheme only for Technology & Engineering) or all the categories. Those who are applying for all the three categories will have to pay the processing fee of Rs. 1250/- + Rs. 1250/-+1250/- = Total Rs. 3750/

· Authenticated document showing conversion from CPI/CGPA to percentage, wherever applicable

General Category: Total 85% seats are allocated for admission to general category.
· The students seeking admission in the 1st year of B.Com. (Hons) shall have passed the HSC examination (10+2) [or any other recognized examinations considered equivalent by Nirma University with English as a subject along with any one of the following subjects: Accountancy, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, or Mathematics.
· The candidate must have secured 60% or more marks in the HSC examination (10+2) [or any other recognized examinations considered equivalent by Nirma University]. Total marks obtained in ALL subjects in 12th Standard will be considered for merit.

Merit of admission is based on aggregate percentage of marks in qualifying examination
Application Procedure:
Step 1 – Filling in Registration Details: Click on the APPLY ONLINE button on the Institute’s website. Please do this only after reading this document carefully. You will be taken to the Registration / Login page. Fill all the details of registration and click on Register.
Step 2 – Making Application Fee Payment: You will receive an OTP on your mobile number and email id. Enter this OTP for verification. After verifying, a 06-digit password will be sent to your registered mobile number and email id.
Login to the page with the registered email id and password. The candidate will be directed to the page for creating a new password. Once the password is set, the candidate will be redirected to the Personal Information page and then final payment page.
[Note: You will have to use this User ID and Password for all admission related activities in the Admission Portal. If you have not received password, then you can contact Institute’s Administration Office on 07971652608 (between 11.00 am to 06.00 pm on all working days)].
The application processing fee is Rs. 800/- for General Category. The application fee is inclusive of applicable taxes. After filling up the necessary information the candidate will be directed to make final payment. The payment can be made through Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking/UPI mode. No other modes of payment are accepted. Application fee once paid will not be refunded.
Step 3 – Completing the Application Form: The candidate needs to fill in the Qualification details here. The candidate will be able to fill these details once the HSC (10+2) results are declared. At any later stage of the admission process, if it is found that a candidate does not satisfy the eligibility criteria or the information furnished by him/her is incorrect, his/her application for the admission will stand cancelled. At the time of admission, if the applicant is not able to produce valid proof in support of the application or if discrepancy is found in the application details and supporting documents, then the application will be considered as INVALID, and will not be considered for admission.

The candidates holding Masters Degree or equivalent with 55% or equivalent grade from a recognized university will be considered eligible for registration for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the relevant programme.
If the applicant has passed the qualifying examination from a University other than Nirma University, he/she will be required to obtain a provisional eligibility certificate from Nirma University on payment of Rs. 500/- and the students who are granted admission will have to submit the original of migration certificate within six months from the date of admission.
Admission Procedure:
The University will invite applications from the candidates through advertisement in the press or on the website. The Candidates, who intend to register for Ph.D., have to apply in the prescribed proforma. Selection is done through entrance test: written test will be conducted for the eligible candidates and is followed by a presentation by the candidates and a personal interview by a committee. The component weightage of the selection will be as under, while making the selection:
• Weightage for Entrance Test : 50%
• Weightage for Personal Interview: 50%
Sub component weightage in Personal Interview shall be as under:
• Literature Survey: 35%
• Innovation in Research: 20%
• Discussion: 10%
The candidate who does not meet with 50% of total assessment score will not be considered for admission. The candidate who obtains 50% and above will be considered on merit based on number of vacancies available. However the candidates who have passed the National Level Test like UGC/CSIR(JRF) examination / NET / SLET / GATE/teacher fellowship holder, M.Phil etc or its equivalent shall be exempted from appearing in the written test and they will be considered deemed to have earned 35% score in the written test.
