Candidates having master degree with at least of 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or on equivalent grade in point scale wherever grading system is followed).

A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% Io 50%, or on equivalent relaxation of grade, will be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/EBC/OBC/Differently-abled categories of candidates

A candidate shall ordinarily be permitted to pursue research for the Ph.D. degree in the subject in which he/she holds Master’s degree.  

Exemptions from the Ph.D. Admission Test (PAT)

Candidates who have secured grants for research such as fellowship/scholarship/associateship etc. by qualifying UGC/NET/CSIRNET/GATE/MHRD Scholarships/Teacher Fellowship/ DBT/ICMR/ICAR /DSTINSPIRE/CSSIR, ICHR etc

Assistant Professors, Associate Professor and Professor who have been appointed on substantive post in the UGC pay scale in the teaching departments or the University or a constituent college of the University who have completed their probation successfully with an experience of at least two years of uninterrupted service would be considered under this category. Teachers appointed in self finance courses will not be exempted from the test

Non-teaching employees of the University, who are holding substantive appointment for more than five years having at least 55% marks in Master’s degree in the subject concerned and with at least two research papers published in any reputed refereed journal or journals identitied by the UGC would be considered under this category

PAT 2018 Pattern

The PAT is a written test comprising two papers of 100 marks each.

Paper I - 100 marks – objective/ multiple choice questions on general and research aptitude.

Paper II - 100 marks – subjective type in the subject concerned based on syllabus (excluding elective papers) of the Post-Graduate courses of the Patna University.

Interview - 20 marks

The minimum qualifying marks for written test will be as follows:

For General candidates –                50% aggregate marks

For Reserved category candidates –         45% aggregate marks

The selection of the candidate will be on the basis of marks obtained in PAT and interview combined together

Admission to LL.M. Part-I shall be open to candidates, having Bachelor's degree in law with at least 50% marks and recongnised by Bar Council of India

Reservations:

The provisions relating to the reservation of seats in force in the State are applicable as per the provisions incorporated in the Patna University Admission Ordinance

Admission against these seats will be made on merit provided the candidate has passed the Qualifying Examination and appeared in the Test and secured the qualifying 33% marks in BLET Examination

Appearance in the test is mandatory in order to get admission for all the candidates belonging to any category

The reserved category candidates shall have to submit a copy of the certificate mentioning that the candidate belongs to particular reserved category issued by an officer not below the rank of S.D.O

3% seats shall also be reserved for physically disabled candidates comprising visually impaired (1 %), Hearing Impaired (1 %), Orthopedically Handicapped (1 %) and the result of such candidates shall be published alongwith General merit list

The merit list of such disabled person shall be prepared on the basis of percentage fixed separately for each category i.e. Visually impaired (1 %); Hearing impaired (1 %); Orthopedically Handicapped (1 %)

The candidates having less than 40% of disability shall not be entertained

Higher degree of disability shall on the first place, be the criteria of selection for admission

Admission Procedure: Admission shall be made in order of merit on the basis of marks obtained in B.A / B.Sc / B.Com. Hons. (Three year degree course) examination of Patna University or equivalent examination recognized by the Patna University. The minimum eligibility to apply for admission is that a candidate must have passed the above Hons. Examinations or equivalent examinations recognized by Patna University with 50 percent of marks.

1.      Admission to M.A. in Criminology course shall be made on the basis of a written aptitude test followed by viva-voce carrying a total of 100 marks. The question would attempt to assess the general awareness and day-today orientation of the examinees. 2.      Every candidate must have obtained at least 50 % (For General Category) and 45% (For SC & ST) marks in Honours subject.

Admission to B.Sc. (Honours) Environmental Science Course shall be made on the basis of a written Aptitude test followed by Viva Voce carrying a total of 100 marks. The questions will cover the disciplines such as Botany, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physiology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Environment, Microbiology and Elementary knowledge of Computer and Mathematics. The details of the written test will be available along with the Application Forms for appearing at the test. Only those students will be admitted to the test in lieu of admission that have the necessary pre-requisite qualifications as follows –

a)     I.Sc. in 10+2 System or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, having degree in any of these subjects.

b)     Every candidate must have obtained at least 55% (for General category), 50% (for OBC) and 45% (for SC and ST) marks in Science Subjects.

To be eligible for admission to this vocational course a student must have passed:
