Shree Guru Gobind Singh Tricentenary University, SGTU, Gurugram

1.     Subject to the conditions stipulated in these Regulations, the following persons are eligible to seek admission to the PhD programme:

2.     Candidates for admission to the PhD programme shall have a Master's degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.

3.     Candidates who have cleared the M.Phil. course work with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and successfully completing the M.Phil. Degree shall be eligible to proceed to do research work leading to the Ph. D. Degree in the same Institution in an integrated programme. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, shall be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/differently able and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the UGC from time to time.

4.     Candidates possessing a Degree considered equivalent to M.Phil. Degree of an Indian Institution, from a Foreign Educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country, for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to PhD programme.

5.     In case a National fellowship (JRF/ SRF) is granted by any Government Agency (ICMR/ ICAR/ DST/ CSIR/ UGC) to MBBS / BDS or any other students bearing a professional degree of 4 years or higher duration, that shall be considered eligible for getting registered for PhD without appearing in the entrance test. These candidates may submit their applications for admission at any time.

6.     In special cases, direct admission to PhD programme may be given based on the candidate’s previous research experience (made evident by his/her research publications in reputed peer-reviewed journals) from a recognized University/ Research institution comparable to M. Phil / M. Tech/MPH standard.

PROCEDURE FOR ADMISSION

1.     SGT University shall admit PhD students through an Entrance Test conducted at its Campus / Centre(s) in online/physical mode.

2.     SGT University shall:

2.1 Decide on an annual basis through its Department Research Committee (DRC) a predetermined and manageable number of PhD scholars to be admitted in an Academic Year depending on the number of available Research Supervisors, availability of seats with them and other academic and physical facilities available, keeping in mind the norms regarding the scholar-teacher ratio (as indicated in Clause 6.6), laboratory, library, and such other facilities

2.2 Notify well in advance in the University website and through advertisement in at least two (2) national newspapers, of which at least one (1) shall be in the regional language, the number of seats for admission, subject/discipline-wise distribution of available seats, criteria for admission, procedure for admission, examination centre(s) where entrance test(s) shall be conducted and all other relevant information for the benefit of the candidates.

3.     Once the admission is given in PhD courses, the admission fee will not be returned on cancellation of those admissions.

Mode of Fee Payment

Fees shall be paid by Cash or Demand Draft/ Cheque (subject to realisation)/ Bank Transfer/ Internet Banking or any other method approved by the Board of Management. The drafts, cheques and payments shall be made in favour of 'Shree Guru Gobind Singh Tricentenary University', payable at 'New Delhi'. 
Fee paid by a student is not refundable under any circumstances in part or whole after commencement of the academic session.

Student must obtain a receipt for every payment made to the University. Fees shall only be paid at the Accounts Office of the University, or by using the method prescribed by the University for Bank Transfer/ Internet Banking or any other method approved by the Board of Management. 

Fees cannot be paid in part or in installments, unless specified by the University. 

Delayed payments will attract late fee charges and/or interest charges as may beprescribed from time to time. 
Cheques returned unpaid for any reason shall attract an administrative fee, and collection fee as may be prescribed from time to time. 

Refundable Security shall be refunded in full, without interest, on production of security deposit receipt and ‘No Dues Certificate’ from concerned departments/offices, when such a refund becomes due. However, costs for any damage or loss caused by the student, or any outstanding dues or fines that remain unpaid, are liable to be deducted from the refundable security deposit before refund.

Candidates must have passed 10+2 with minimum 45% marks with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with any one out of Chemistry/Biotechnology/Computer Science/Biology as optional subject.

10+2 pass from Board of School Education, Haryana or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto with at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together both in qualifying and competitive examinations and must have passed in the subject of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually in the qualifying examination.
