The Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee, Sri Amritsar decided to start BDS course in Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Dental Sciences & Research, Sri Amritsar in the year 1992 by constituting a Trust namely Sri Guru Ram Das Charitable Hospital Trust which was formed on 15.12.1992. Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Amritsar was also started in the year 1997 under the control of Sri Guru Ram Das Charitable Hospital Trust, Amritsar.The Punjab Govt. accorded necessary sanction for start of BDS course with intake capacity of 60 students in this Institute and Guru Nanak Dev university, Amritsar granted affiliation to it. First batch of 60 students was admitted in 1992.
