- About Swami Vivekanand College of Education: This is the first college of Education in HP accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) the appex body of UGC India for the Quality and Excellence in Higher Education.
S.V.N. College of Education, Tarkwari came into existence by the efforts of S.V.N. Educational Society (Hamirpur) and the courtesy of H.P. Government, H.P. University and NCTE Jaipur. The college started functioning from Oct. 3rd 2000.
S.V.N. College of Education, Tarkwari is located at a distance of about 25 km from Hamirpur. It is about 12 km from Jahu on Hamirpur road and 20 km from Sarkaghat. It can be reached from most of the places by first coming to Bhota, Hamirpur or Jahu as is suitable to an individual. From these places there are buses for Tarkwari after every 15 or 20 minutes. There is regular bus service to the place from all important stations like Mandi, Shimla, Una and Hamirpur.
The college is housed in its own three storied spacious building with sufficient number of rooms comprising classrooms, laboratories, library, Assembly hall, common room administrative office, staff room and sports room.
The college has a well-equipped Library with large number of standard books, both on education and on general subjects. It has a spacious reading room. College subscribes to most important magazines, journals and number of newspapers. There are encyclopedia on Education besides other reference books. It is managed by a well qualified librarian (M.Lib.).
The college is proud of very good computer laboratory which has sufficient number of computers and allied equipment. Computer training with basic languages is provided to all students by a computer teacher. Practical teaching on computer is given to each student. Computer trainers are qualified computer experts with vast experience of concerned area."
A very competent and qualified instructor heads the Physical Education Department. The department is very well-equipped in most of the games like Volley-ball, Badminton, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi and Athletics meets. Special emphasis is to build the self confidence of the students. They are encouraged to participate in declamation contests, debates, educational seminars, conferences etc. Morning assembly is organised on every Saturday of the week.
In the previous year participation of our students in declamation contests, athletics etc. was considerable. They brought laurels to the college by their excellent performance and winning positions in debates, declamation contests, athletic meets, march past at state level.

Eligibility:Bachelor’s Degree in any stream with 50% marks for General Category and 45% marks for SC/ST/OBC/Physical Handicaped and Ex-Serviceman(Self). No Age Limit.
Admission Criteria
The only basis of admission to the course is the Common Entrance test ( C.E.T.) and subsequent counseling conducted by the Himachal Pradesh university Shimla. No direct admission is possible.
Fee Structure
Tuition fee for subsidized and non- subsidized seats, annual charge and monthly charges shall be as fixed by H.P. Govt. The college will not be imposing any extra fee. The institute may allow fee concession to the deserving meritorious students.
Elgibility Condition:
1. The candidate must have passed Graduation with at least 50% Marks in any stream from any recognized university.
2.The admissions will be strictly made upon the basis of an Entrance Test conducted by the Himachal Pradesh University.

i. Mark lists of plus two and Graduation examination.
ii. Transfer Certificate from the institution last studied.
iii. Conduct certificate from the head of the institution last Studied.
