Padma Bhushan Dr. S.B. Mujumdar established Symbiosis on the principles of Vedic thought of "World as One Family" and is resplendent of the activities and students of several countries. The students come from more than 75 countries and find this to be a home away from home. Symbiosis Centre of International Education, wing of the University, is responsible in promoting this idea and also facilitates international students. The University also has MOU's of collaboration with several renowned universities of the world and encourages students & faculty to participate in its programmes.
The University bears in mind its objective that its ultimate aim is to participate in the task of inculcating knowledge and hone skills which are vital to the young graduates and post graduates who passes out from the University.
The University was established under Section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, in the year 2002, with the basic principle:

Applicants are required to check their eligibility as per the Ph.D. rules of the University. Only registration with the website for admission, qualifying Ph.D. Entrance Test (PET) or getting selected in Personal Interview for Ph.D. will not make you eligible for obtaining the degree. You need to have pre-requisite qualification as per the UGC Regulations and if not, please be aware that the University does not bear any responsibility for the rejection of your candidature in future.
A candidate seeking admission to the Ph.D. Programme must satisfy any one of the following eligibility requirements:
· Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. Programme shall have a Master's degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.
· Relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/Differently-Abled categories or for those who had obtained their Master's degree prior to 19th September, 1991. The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace mark procedures.
· Candidates who have successfully completed the M.Phil. Degree with 55% marks or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed), shall be eligible to take admission to the Ph. D. Degree. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST//differently-abled categories.
· Candidates possessing a Degree considered equivalent to M.Phil. Degree of an Indian Institution, from a Foreign Educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to Ph.D. Programme.
· Master's degree or equivalent in any subject with 55% marks plus minimum of five years of work experience in the area of interdisciplinary research in which admission is being sought. Interdisciplinary research involves two or more academic, scientific, or artistic disciplines. The candidate must show evidence of his/her relevant experience in interdisciplinary area of research.
Note
nternational candidates (NRIs, Foreign Nationals and PIOs who have obtained Master's degree from foreign universities) are required to qualify IELTS with 6.5 score or IELA Test (Band 3) of SIU ELTIS, an equivalent test for English language proficiency.

Instructions for Registration: This process is meant for registering you on the website for the admission process of SIU's Ph.D. Programme, 2019. The candidates are instructed to
1. Note that the entire application process is online and they are not required to submit any hard copy of application to the University.
2. Check their eligibility as per the Ph.D. Rulebook. Candidates not possessing a Master's Degree awarded by the Universities shall be required to produce equivalence of qualifications from statutory bodies as per the UGC norms/ Ph. D. Rule Book. Please note that equivalence of degree and approval of the institute/ programme are not the same.
3. Read the guidelines for filling up the form and have all the documents ready for uploading.
4. The candidates are expected to know the sub-streams on offer and the syllabi given on the website.

6. Please note, the applicants exempted from the entrance test will have to download the admit card for attending Personal Interview (PI). The issue of admit cards is subjected to fulfilling the eligibility conditions.

8. The admit cards for PET, PI and admission offers shall be available through log-in process and no list shall be displayed on SIU web-site.
9. The schedule for PI shall be fixed and exempted/ successful PET candidates shall be informed about the same through log-in process.

Online Payment Through Credit Card: The candidate may pay directly through either Master or Visa card online and follow the instructions on the SNAP website.
Online Payment Through Net Banking: The candidate may transfer SNAP test fee to Symbiosis Test Secretariat account using Net Banking option too.
Step 3. Admit Card should be printed from the SNAP website. This will be operative from 07th December 2010 and will remain open till 19th December, 2010. Ensure the following.
Print the Admit Card online.
BBring the Admit card with the Photo Id Proof to the Test Centre. An acceptable photo identity is any one of *Passport *Driving license *College / Institute identity card, *Credit card with photograph,*Voter ID Card. At the time of the written test, it is mandatory to produce photo identity as described above. Symbiosis Authorized Person will verify and authenticate your Admit Card against the photo-id. Please preserve this authenticated Admit Card for further GD/PI processes.
[Please Note that no duplicate Admit Card will be issued in case it is lost by the candidate].
Important: SNAP Registration Fee is non-refundable. No claim for refund of the SNAP Registration fee will not be entertained on for any reason.
At the time of filling online application form or while appearing for SNAP test, any attempt to impersonate or indulge in any other malpractice would automatically disqualify the candidate from admission processes to all post graduate programmes of Symbiosis International University and may also lead to any legal action deemed fit.
