- About Tamil Nadu Open University:
The Tamil Nadu Open University was established by an Act (No.27 of 2002) of the Legislative Assembly of the Government of Tamil Nadu to benefit those who have been deprived of and/or denied the access to higher education especially destitute, physically challenged, working men and women, economically weaker sections of the society, and those who discontinued education for various reasons, etc. In the main, it aims to reach the hitherto unreached.
The University offers many Programmes in various disciplines. Given the geographical extent, population and actual need of Tamil Nadu, the setting up of Tamil Nadu Open University by the Government of Tamil Nadu is the right step. We appreciate the Government of Tamil Nadu for having taken this bold and knowledgeable step. This step of the Government of Tamil Nadu shall prove a boon for women, physically challenged, rural poor and marganalised sections of the society and we are committed to support it academically as well as financially. In a short period of six months, Tamil Nadu Open University has done a remarkable work.
The University, we understand has initiated steps for recruitment and the announcement of programmes, both of which would not have been possible without considerable ground work and are really commendable. We are sure the action of Government of Tamil Nadu will help us increase enrolments and move towards the targets of 10th Plan."

- Course Name: Bachelor of Education B.Ed
Course Description: Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) Admission 2017

Category: Miscellaneous Courses
Eligibility:The candidates should have passed the UG degree exam in 11+1+3 or 10+2+3 stream; candidates who have direct UG Degree without +2 qualification/post-graduate degree without a UG degree are not eligible
PG Degree (5 years Integrated Course) under 10+2+5 or 11+1+5 pattern shall be considered for admission; but the marks obtained by the candidate in the first three years (major and allied) only taken into account for admission to the B.Ed.SE Degree Course
The candidates qualified in PG Degree and secured 50% of marks with the same major subjects in UG Degree, but not fulfilling the minimum percentage of marks required in UG Degree as per community/category-wise will be eligible to apply
The candidates who have completed a NCTE recognised teacher education program through face-to-face mode
Minimum Marks
OC - 50%
BC/BCM - 45%
MBC/DNC - 43%
SC/ST/SCA - 40%Selection Procedure
Selection for admission into B.Ed and allotment of Study Centres will be made based on the UG marks obtained by them, and other preference criteria through Admission Counselling given in Prospectus
Tamil Nadu Open University B.Ed admission are made strictly only on the basi of merit
Program Fee
The Program fee is Rs 32,000/- for the entire program of two years; the total fee is to be paid at the time of admission in the form of DD drawn in favour of Tamil Nadu Open University, payable at Chennai
Registration Fee - Rs.500/-; Postal Fee - Rs.200/-; Tuition Fee - Rs.5300/-; Practical Fee - Rs.5000/-; Total Fee - Rs 16,000/- (Note: Fee once paid is not refundable)

The cost of application form for B.Ed admission is Rs.500/-; the application form can be obtained either in person or by post
The Application Form and Prospectus can be directly obtained in person either from the University Head Office or University Zonal Centres or B.Ed Program Study Centres by way of Cash or Demand Draft for Rs.500/- drawn in favour of "Tamil Nadu Open University" payable at Chennai
