The Shipping Corporation of India was established on October 2nd, 1961, by the amalgamation of Eastern Shipping Corporation and Western Shipping Corporation.
Starting out as a marginal Liner shipping Company with just 19 vessels, the SCI has today evolved into the largest Indian shipping Company. The SCI also has substantial interests in various segments of the shipping trade. SCI’s owned fleet includes Bulk carriers, Crude oil tankers, Product tankers, Container vessels, Passenger-cum-Cargo vessels, Phosphoric Acid / Chemical carriers, LPG / Ammonia carriers and Offshore Supply Vessels. Sailing through for nearly five decades, the SCI today has a significant presence on the global maritime map.
As the country’s premier shipping line, the SCI owns and operates around one-third of the Indian tonnage, and has operating interests in practically all areas of the shipping business; servicing both national and international trades.
In view of the demand from Indian trade, the SCI has diversified into a large number of areas. The SCI is today the only Indian shipping Company operating: break-bulk services, international container services, liquid/dry bulk services, offshore services, passenger services. In addition, the SCI mans and manages a large number of vessels on behalf of various government departments and organizations.

Pass in 10+2 examination from a recognized Board with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (PCM) with not less than 60% marks. Students who have appeared for 10+2 examination and waiting for results are also eligible to apply & qualify for examination subject to fulfill the percentage criteria prior the commencement of course.
OR
Pass in B.Sc (PCM)/B.sc (Electronics with Physics as individual subject in one of the years) with marks not less than 60% from a recognized University.
OR
B.E. / B. Tech. degree from an AICTE recognized college with marks not less than 50%.
And Minimum 50% marks in English in 10th or 12th or B.Sc or B.Tech or B.E.
Relaxation for SC/ST candidates:
5% relaxation in educational qualification marks. However, there is no relaxation in English marks.
1. Candidate has to log on to www.imu.edu.in and MUST fill the online application for IMU-CET strictly following the instructions given on their website.
2. Candidates need to apply online for MTI, Powai, Mumbai through the link given on this page.
3. After applying online candidates needs to send the SELF ATTESTED scan copy of the below mentioned documents on mti@sci.co.in mentioning “DNS Admission – candidate’s name” in the subject of the email.

· Caste Certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL)

Candidates are required to forward all the documents mentioned above in email with prescribed total size of all the documents below 5 MB.
Important Note: Candidates MUST note that IMU-CET Online Application Form AND MTI, SCI Online Application Form are two DIFFERENT forms and filling both of them separately is mandatory. Candidates not applying for or qualifying in IMU-CET will not be admitted at our SCI – Maritime Training Institute, Powai, Mumbai.
