· The candidates having final degree of M.E./M.Tech. , B.Tech. and M.C.A. are to apply for enrollment in the Ph.D. (Tech.) program and the candidates having the final degree of M.Sc. has to enroll for the Ph.D. (Sc.) program.
· M.C.A. candidates applying for Ph. D. Tech. program would have to follow the same rules applicable for B. Tech./B.E. Candidates for registration.
· All the relevant rules regarding equivalence of degree obtained from other universities would have to be complied with including endorsement by the Ph. D. committee.
· Candidates who wish to pursue research work through this School should apply in the prescribed proforma by paying Rs. 100/- through a challan available through different University Cash counters. The proforma for application is available in the University website.

Candidates should have B.Sc honors degree under (10+2+3) pattern in any discipline of a recognized Board University/Institute with Mathematics as one of the subjects. Candidate with M.A. degree in Bengali from any UGC recognized University with 55% marks in aggregate (SC/ST/OBC with 50% marks) are eligible to apply for admission in the PhD Program

Selection Procedure
Candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in the admission test and interview conducted by the university. The entrance test will be of 50 marks written and 50 marks for Viva-voce
The candidate has to write one essay of 20 marks, 20 MCQs of 1mark each with negative marking for wrong answer & 2 analytical questions of 5 marks each. Candidates appearing for written test will have to attain qualifying marks (50%) to appear for the viva-voce exam

Selection Procedure
Selection will be made strictly in order of merit on the basis of percentage of marks for 60% of seats for C.U. current year students and for the remaining 40% of seats, in order of merit on the basis of the marks obtained at the subject wise Entrance Test for Non C.U. and C.U. current year and back year students
The Entrance Test for respective course will be conducted through MCQ Booklets and OMR Sheets. The MCQ Booklets will comprise 50 questions with a total of 100 marks; each question carrying 2 marks. Black Ball Pen must be used for darkening the correct answer on the OMR sheet
Accreditation of Marks: For each correct answer 2 marks and for not attempted answer 0 (zero) mark will be awarded whereas for every wrong answer 0.5 marks will be deducted (Minus Marking)
In case, two or more candidates obtain same marks in the entrance test, the candidates with less negative marking will be placed in higher position in the merit list

A common admission test (CET) for PGDJTM for all categories of candidates will be conducted by this department
The admission test will comprise one paper of 100 marks with four subgroups, viz
1) General knowledge and English - 25 marks
2) Mathematical aptitude - 25 marks
3) Physics - 25 marks and
4) Chemistry - 25 marks
