  • About Utkal University of Culture:

    Ancient Odisha was a confluence of cultures of different races. In this holy land, assimilation of the cultures of the Austrics, the Drvidians and the Aryans took place. Geographically, Odisha provides a culture corridor that connects the North with the South. The sea-faring activities and maritime glory made it the most attractive destination of the eastern coast of India. Successive tides from all sides surged up, rolled in and broke over this land culminating in cultural synthesis. This passage over ages transcended the traditional vision of culture.


    Culture in its essence is viewed here as ways of loving together. Odisha has a unique distinction of acting as a confluence of diverse faiths by striking harmony amongst religious faiths from animism, fetishism, shamanism, ancestore worship to highly evolved forms of religions like Brahminism, Jainism, Buddhism, Islam, Chiristianity and Mahima Dharma.


    Vaishnavism, Saivism, Saivism, Sakta , Ganapatya, Sour-all forms of Brahminic worship are conceived in the wonderful matrix of the great and grand cult of Jagannath that embraces in its grandeur quintessences of different religions signifying world-view. The Oriya literature contained this world-view in its essence;

    These lines of the saint poet Bhima Bhoi express sentiments of self-sacrifice and selflessness for the well-being of the world at large. Through centuries, the state retained its cultural identity within the mainstream of pan-India culture. Odisha is a land of rich and diverse artistic achievements. Its ageless art and flourishing cultural are the products of a long historical process. Spiritual, philosophical, professional and human dimensions are merged into the process to yield finest efforts of cultural life. Against this background, Odisha Justifiable pioneered the establishment of the first ever University of culture of the country.

    Course Description: Master of Visual Arts (MVA) [Specialization in: Painting, Print Making, Applied Art & Design, Sculpture, Art-History]

    Eligibility:

    BVA/BFA or equivalent degree in the concerned subject. Any candidate who has passed the qualifying degree examination with at least 45% of marks in aggregate (40% for SC/ST students) of Utkal University of Culture i.e., BPA/B. Mus/B.A.(Music)/BVA/BFA or equivalent graduation degree from any other recognized University/Institution.

    Procedure for Admission:
    a)      Admission to all the above courses shall be governed by the rules and regulations framed by the University.
    b)      Selection for admission into all types of Post-Graduate shall be made on the basis of Career Marking and Aptitude Test (Career Marking – 80% and Aptitude test -20%).
    c)       A student who has criminal antecedents and whose conduct is not satisfactory shall not be considered for admission.

    How to apply:

    PROCEDURE FOR ON-LINE APPLICATION & DOCUMENTS REQURIED
    Application for admission to all programmes of the University shall be made in online mode only. Candidates are required to visit University website (Admissions-2018) for filling up of the application form. Required documents are to be uploaded and application fee of Rs. 300/- is to be paid through on-Line either through Debit/Credit Cards or Internet Banking. Candidates can also deposit application fee in form of cash at any branch of State Bank of India through Challans generated from the system. 
    Documents to be submitted along with Application Form
    After filling up of the on-line application form, candidates are required to download the hard copy of the application form and submit the same along with the following documents to the University. The downloaded filled-in form along with the following documents can be submitted either by hand or through post addressed to CHAIRMAN, P.G COUNCIL UTKAL UNIVERSITY OF CULTURE, SANSKRUTI VIHAR, MADANPUR, BHUBANESWAR – 752054. The envelope containing the application from and other documents shall be super-scribed with “APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION, 2018-19” However, in no case application received after the stipulated date shall be accepted. The University shall not be responsible for any kind of postal delay.

    1.       Self attested copies of mark sheets and certificates of all the examinations passed i.e HSC or equivalent, Intermediate/+2,B.A/B.Mus./BPA/B.V.A/BFA and other qualifying/ examination. The marks sheet having grading system should be accompanied with conversion chart.
    2.       Self attested copies of the Conduct Certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended.
    3.       Attested copies of certificate (s) in support of claim, if any, for a seat against the reserved quota as specified in the application form.
    4.       Self attested of Registration Receipt (for Utkal University of Culture candidates).
    5.       Copy of the system generated receipt or deposited Challan indicating payment of Rs. 300/- towards application fee.
